Weekly Cleaning Schedule

Hi there!

Since we are at the end of the week, I thought I would address how I like to begin my week.

Mondays

Bathrooms: I normally begin with placing the toilet cleaner inside the bowl of the toilet. I move on to cleaning the mirrors and sink while the toilet cleaner is setting in. My Grandma told me this trick to clean out the drain. It’s a real simple trick, and you only need two ingredients – baking soda and vinegar. I use white vinegar because I find it more acidic than the others. Let hot water run down the sink for about 30 seconds or so, and then turn off the water add some baking soda and wait for it to form a paste. After it becomes a paste, I combine vinegar, which makes a little volcano. Wait a little bit for it to go down the drain. Once that is completed, I finish off with turning the faucet on to hot water, leave it running for a minute. After that I wipe down the sink, the faucet and around the sink. Next I begin to spray my shower cleaner onto the shower walls, while I tend to the toilet. Afterwards I tend to the shower walls and tub. I like to finish cleaning the tub with placing baking soda and vinegar, the same method from above in the tub, because I find that’s what the tub sparkle. I use this method for all the sinks and the shower drain as well. I also like to change my bath tub curtain. I also dust the blinds and baseboards. I like to finish cleaning the bathroom by sweeping and mopping. I find it easier to place my shower gear (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, etc.) in a container under the sink, so the bottles don’t get covered in soap build up. I just clean them up after each shower.

Laundry: I like to split up my laundry by doing a few loads throughout the week. On Mondays I like to wash my towels and my cleaning rags,

Tuesdays

Living Room: I personally only allow myself to eat snacks in the living room, and one beverage. I normally eat my meals at the dining room. Unless something major is on TV, than I make the exception. Although, I do try to limit myself from eating in the living room. I find that this helps with keeping things cleaned when I don’t eat in the living room as much. I dust off the TV, dust the walls and blinds and the baseboards. I like to finish with a thorough sweep and mop.

Wednesdays

Bedroom(s): I make sure everything is in its place. I clean and change my sheets, pillowcases and curtains. I don’t like having much clutter on my dresser and night stand. I make sure that any important mail and emails are placed in its binder. During my tax season, I receive my important documents and ensure they kept safe until I need to file my taxes. I dust my walls, baseboards, then I finish by sweeping and mopping. There is nothing better than crawling into a bed of fresh sheets.

Laundry: Linens

Thursdays

Kitchen: Because where I live, Thursdays are when the new flyer comes out for the grocery stores. So I make sure I check my fridge and pantry to ensure my salad dressings, broth, spices, and other kitchen staples are still good. And it also gives me a sense as to what is expiring soon, so I can incorporate them in the upcoming meals. Next, after checking for spoiled food, which I try my best to not waste any food, I wash down my cupboards and my fridge. I clean my sink and drain. I like to replace my sponge once a week because of how often I wash dishes. I then sweep and mop the floors.

After I clean up my kitchen, I then prepare my grocery list, and decide what we are going to have for the week.

Fridays

Grocery Shop: Whenever my boyfriend comes back home from work, we go out to the grocery store with our list. We have Take-Out Fridays, it’s a nice way to end the week and we tend to watch a movie or watch our of our shows together. And it works out well because we don’t have a lot of time after we finish grocery shopping to come back and make dinner.

Saturdays

Laundry: We spend our day doing our clothes laundry. Because I did the chores throughout the week, I find that we are able to enjoy our time better with each other.

Sundays

Meal Prep: As the week comes to a close, I like to make some of our dinners and lunches as well as snacks for the week. This way I just place everything in the freezer with aluminium foil to seal in the freshness. I like to make a big container of salad (although I slice tomatoes and place them in a separate container, so they don’t make my salad soggy). That way throughout the day I just scoop the salad in a bowl and add croutons and dressing. I don’t add the croutons to the container because they are known to become soggy. I like using my crock pot on Mondays because I can chop up everything on Sundays and it’s practically good to go Monday morning.

This schedule may not be for everyone, and that’s okay. So don’t feel bad if you can’t do these chores on these certain days. You know yourself, so never be afraid to always try your best.
