Good Life – One Republic

Hey, it’s another Music Monday.

Even on my worst days, I love this song because it reminds me to always make the best out of every situation. It reminds me that I can have a good life, if I allow myself to remain positive about things.

“Oh, this has gotta be the good life
This has gotta be the good life
This could really be a good life, good life
Say oh, got this feeling that you can’t fight
Like this city is on fire tonight
This could really be a good life
A good, good life”

Change Your Perspective

I love this quote because it is a reminder of that even though you may be going through challenging times right now, it doesn’t mean things will have to be that way forever. All you gotta do is change your perspective on the situations and just keep reminding yourself that things will get better.

Another one of my favourite photography quotes is;

“Life is like photography, you need the negatives to develop.”

Day 70 of 192

Finally getting caught up with all of my posts. Yay!

With my boyfriend’s permission, he told me that I can donate one of his video games. It was his idea.

It’s a part two of the video game, and he hasn’t played the first one. He figured it would be better to donate to someone else.

Day 69 of 192

This is Sunday’s item.

I was going to read in bed with my book light, but unfortunately it stopped working. I have no idea where to buy these batteries to replace the ones that no longer work. I am just going to buy a new one eventually. Luckily I have a light over my bed for reading. It is amazing because I don’t have to get out of bed when I’m done reading. I love it.

Although I liked this light better because it felt less intrusive for when my boyfriend would be going to sleep. I love the quote that was on it.

“She was one of the rare ones…”

Day 68 of 192

This is Saturday’s item.

Earlier this year, my boyfriend bought himself a new watch, and now he kept the box that the watch came in. He has kept for several months now, but he now is going to depart with the box.

It’s a plain grey shallow box, so it’s not like we can re-purpose it into anything. It’s best to just recycle it.

Grocery Shopping

Welcome back to the final post (for now) regarding resetting your finances.

Another tip to help you cut back on your finances, is to grocery shop strategically.

What I like to do is I…

  1. Take inventory of what I have, and what is about to go bad. I would include these foods for either the next day, or within two days or so.
  2. Check my local grocery store flyer, and see what is on sale. I add things I enjoy on my list. My favourite things to buy are colourful vegetables that I can add to my pastas, stir fries, etc.
  3. Have No Meat Mondays to help eliminate the cost of meat, since meat is the most expensive food group at the grocery store. I’m an omnivore so I enjoy meat and vegetables, but I try to cut back on meats.
  4. Buy family packs of meat, and freezer bags. I prefer to buy family packs of meat so I can separate my portions into two, or even three meals. I buy bulk sizes for a lot of things, as well. When I freeze my food, I write the contents and date, and expiry date. Then I just thaw it in the fridge when I need it.
  5. Stock up on all sale items. If you see something that you like on sale, and it won’t go bad fast, I tend to stock up on it. There would be good sales on pasta noodles, and pasta noodles so I like to stock up since it is a cheap sale, and noodles last a long time. I like to add noodles in my soups, pasta dishes, and other dishes, too.
  6. Figure out my meal plan using the ingredients. I like to make dishes with the same ingredients so I can roll those ingredients to other meals. For example when zucchinis are on sale, I can so many dishes with that. I can add to it my pastas, I can make into a ratatouille dish, and I can make zucchini boats. That is where you slice them long wise, and scoop out the remains, and you can stuff it with sausages, or with other vegetables.
  7. Stick to the list. If it isn’t on the list, you must discipline yourself to buy what’s only on your list. Nothing more.
  8. Keep it within my budget. Now everyone is going to have a different budget, depending on how many people you live with. If you can try to keep your expenses to half of your monthly income.

I really hope this helps everyone, in case you needed that extra motivation to save money.

Happiness – Eckhart Tolle

What I love about Eckhart Tolle, is that he really makes you want to stay in the present. It makes me more aware of my emotions and feelings. I have noticed that whenever I focus less on the past and future, I am more at peace with myself. I am more relaxed, as well.

“Always say ‘yes’ to the present moment. Say ‘yes’ to life – and see how life suddenly starts working for you rather than against you.”

-Eckhart Tolle

Focusing on the present moment instead of allowing yourself to be dragged down by your past, or allowing yourself feel anxious about the future, is beneficial to a happy life. You allow yourself to be more relaxed and calm. Being calm will help you make wiser and better decisions. This is how you make your life work for you.

Day 67 of 192

I remembered that I had opened my mascara on May the 28th, and mascara needs to be thrown away after three months of use.

I’m not going to replace it, or at least any time soon. To me, applying make up, isn’t that great of time well spent, at least I feel that way. Nothing personal to other people who like to apply make up.

I just realized it isn’t really for me. I like to save applying make up for special occasions like a wedding, or some family gatherings.

Thankful Thursdays #9

Hey everyone, it’s another Thursday, that means another addition of Thankful Thursdays!

It is where I talk about the things I am most grateful for during the week.

  1. I am thankful for being comfortable with living with less stuff.
  2. I am happy I can spend time reading a lot of my books.
  3. I am glad that I got to see my sister last night and had dinner together. That was nice.
  4. I am grateful for being able to listen to music, especially the songs I haven’t listened to in a really long time. That is always fun!
  5. I am thankful that I got to talk to my friend whom I haven’t talked to in awhile. It’s always nice when we get to catch up. Hopefully we can hang out soon.

What are some of the things you are thankful for?

Day 66 of 192

This decluttering journey has been liberating. I am so happy with the progress I have been making.

Today, I am donating this pencil sharpener, that I no longer need or use.

Digital Declutter: I have also deleted ten photos from my phone that I no longer need. It’s a start for finally (digitally) organizing my photos into albums onto my phone. It’s long overdue.
