Last Day of January

Despite that the first month of the year is coming to a close. It’s important to remind yourself that you even though you didn’t get to do all the things you had wished to do, it doesn’t mean that you won’t ever be able to accomplish your goals. Sometimes the roads to success is under construction, so you may have to take a detour to your goals, and that is okay, too. Or sometimes, you have to take another road, and then you come across one of my favourite words – serendipity. It means that you found something better than what you were looking in the first place.

But regardless of what you are going through right now, you will find your passion, and you will reach your goals. Just hold your head held high, because when you cry, or hold your head low, your tiara is falling. Keep on going, and never lose sight of your dreams.

January 2021 Resolutions Summary

For my new followers, who may not know about this, I have been working on my Happiness Project. I have become inspired by Gretchen Rubin’s book titled The Happiness Project. In case you haven’t heard about the book, it’s where she made monthly resolutions in order to improve herself and her lives. Each month she focused on a different aspect in her life. I sort of mimicked her style. In January she focused on ways she can boost her energy.

On the first of every month, I will write about my resolutions are, and why. And then on the last day of the month, I will write about my successes and my not so successful resolutions. It has been an exciting journey so far.

This has been a bit of a difficult month for me, a lot of stresses, to be honest. But I think I was able to handle those stresses because I have been working on my Happiness Project. I dealt with helping my mom move, and she has a lot of things. Another thing that was stressful to me, at least, was babysitting my niece. I don’t have children, so the thought of having to watch someone else’s child(ren) gives me anxiety. But now that I have done it more times, I am getting used to it. But some days it’s hard because I have to say no to her, since she can’t climb on to the table.

My January resolutions were…

  1. Go to bed early
  2. Exercise more
  3. Organize
  4. Tackle a nagging task

I was able to do these resolutions, but for me the hardest one was going to bed late, mostly because my boyfriend likes to stay up late playing video games. So it is sometimes hard for me to go to bed when I like to. We live with other people, so we can’t really use the living room for his video game. So he has to play in our room, which is basically all we have to ourselves.

The easiest resolution that I was able to follow was organizing. I love organizing things, so it was easy for me to keep things organized, and get organized.

Tackling a nagging project is any projects that I need to get done, or should get should, but for whatever I keep putting off. I have brainstormed some ideas already, so I am able to do some of them when I have the time. I like to keep track of everything using a piece of paper, and when I accomplish a resolution, I put a red check mark beside all of the resolutions I have completed for the day.

I know that with as time goes by, I will find it easier to accomplish this in the upcoming weeks. I am starting to feel a bit more happier. Which is something I was hoping for. I can’t wait to be even more happier. I feel like these resolutions have been helpful, and I can’t wait to partake in the resolutions that I have made for myself in February. More to come about that tomorrow!

Day 31

It is okay if you weren’t able to accomplish all of your goals and resolutions throughout the month. It is not too late to not accomplish what you wanted to do with the year. Maybe you were just having a bad month, and didn’t have a lot of free time to work on your goals. But at the end of the day, it isn’t too late. There are some things that I didn’t have time to complete this month. And that’s really okay. This was just the first month of the new year, so there’s still time to make improvementd.

Let’s just try not to be too hard on ourselves. Instead let’s focus on what we have accomplished instead. We can focus on bettering on ourselves, and how we can improve our habits.

Today, I will not bring myself down, just because that I wasn’t able to achieve what I wanted myself to achieve. Instead I will use this as motivation to improve myself to work on my goals. I still have a lot of fun to work towards these goals.

Day 30

When you work together, you will be able to accomplish more together, than what you can accomplish on your own. Yesterday, we began moving and packing my mom’s things. We were able to do it fairly quickly, because we all worked together.

In life, it is important that we work together, rather than alone. I mean, yeah, there are some things that we can do alone, but sometimes it’s more fun to work as a team.

Today, I will recognize the benefits of working as a team. It is a lot of fun to work together. The more the merrier.

Make Your Bed

In this edition of Feel Good Fridays, let’s try to work on improving ourselves for the better. We don’t have to spend a lot of time making ourselves feel good, even if it’s just 15 minutes, or even five minutes a day. The idea of Feel Good Fridays is help us become happier without much effort.

Today’s suggestion is make your bed. I feel that if you start the day with making your bed, you will accomplished something, and by completing that task, you would want to complete another task, and then before you know it, you would have completed your entire to-do list, or just feel accomplished about what you have accomplished. When you accomplish more things on your to-do list, you begin to feel less stressed about it. Which also helps you to feel better.

What I normally like to do, is when I get out of bed, I fold the sheets over to the foot of the bed, so my fitted sheet has time to breathe. During that time, I make and eat breakfast, and then I get dressed. Once I finish those things, I then make my bed.

Day 29

Because my Grandparents were getting tired and a bit overwhelmed with the packing, and loading, we had decided to ask my cousin if she wanted to help us for the day. She had got back saying that she had her stuff to do, so she wasn’t able to help us.

I guess I was reminded that you can’t really force someone to help you, no matter how much you would have liked them to help you. Yeah, sure I was disappointed that my cousin didn’t want to help us, but my Grandparents and I were able to help my mom move her things.

Today, I will not force anyone to do anything that they don’t have time for, or just aren’t able to help with. It doesn’t mean that they don’t love us, they still do, I know it. Sometimes people just say “no” for various reasons, and it usually isn’t a reflection of how they feel towards us.

Thankful Thursdays #31 – January 28th, 2021

This is one of my favourite posts to write! I love to write and think about what I am thankful for. I hope I inspire you to think and reflect what you are grateful for throughout the week.

Here is a list of things that make me grateful.

  1. I am grateful that I get to babysit my niece, when her parents work. I enjoy the time we get to spend together. We read books, and we have tea parties together. Well, not real tea parties, yet, since she is almost two. We just pretend. But it’s still a lot of fun.
  2. I am grateful that my Grandparents helped my mom and myself pack up my mom’s stuff for her move. My mama has a lot of things, so I appreciated any help.
  3. I was able to pick up my holds at the library the other day. Picking up books at the library is always fun. I can’t wait to read them all. I am always excited to read books that I have never read before.
  4. I am thankful for talking to my friends, and family members especially when I have days where I feel upset, or sad about something.
  5. When I saw my Grandma the other day, she gave me her blanket that she meant to give us awhile ago when she gave us the set it goes with. It’s really warm, and cozy. It’s the perfect reading blanket.

Let me know what you are thankful for in the comments!

Day 28

Sometimes, some people may say mean things to us, that may or may not bring us down. My Grandma had said something to me, and it sort of hurt my feelings. I guess it mostly hurt my feelings, because I feel like all week people have been reminding me that I am not good enough, and my Grandma had something that implied that my efforts had fallen short. Maybe that is why my feelings were hurt so much.

I have been trying to find ways that remind me that I am good enough. I have talked about it with my friends and other family members that reminded me that I am good enough, So that was good to hear. Hearing that made me extremely happy.

Today, I will have reasons to remind myself that I am good enough. Even if other people, including myself, think otherwise. It maybe challenging to see ourselves as enough. We either bring ourselves down, or other people may say something hurt, or do something mean that might make us think that we aren’t good enough. In reality we are.

WWW Wednesdays – January 27th, 2021

Let’s talk about books! This is a post where I discuss all the books that I have been reading, by answering the following questions…

  1. What have I finished reading?
  2. What am I currently reading?
  3. What will I read next?

Because my goal is to read 100 books by the end of the year. I fell a bit behind with my reading, so I ended up reading a few shorter books, so I can stay on par with my schedule. That is why I have read these two books the other day.

  1. What have I finished reading?

This book is written by Admiral William H. McRaven (U.S. Navy Retired) about how you can do small things that can change the world. He wrote a speech for a graduating class about how we area capable of changing the world. It is a really inspiring book.

My rating: 4 stars out of 5

This book talks about how we have the power to either make today work, or don’t work. How we spend our time will determine whether or not we will be successful, or not. The power lies in how we can spend our days. Do we spend time working on our goals, or do we scroll through Facebook, asking ourselves, why we don’t have time to do the things we want to do. It is another inspiring book, too.

My rating: 4 stars out of 5

2. What am I currently reading?

I am going to finish this book by Wednesday, so I can write about it. So far, it is amazing! I feel bad that I had to put it down to help my family with things.

3. What will I read next?

Day 27

So I was babysitting my niece the other day, and my sister told me I can give my niece a bath. It seemed like an easy task, but I still had a bit of anxiety about it, because I didn’t want anything to happen bad to happen to her. Once she was playing with her bath toys in the tub, my anxiety started going away. I had never given her a bath before, let alone when it was just us in the house before.

She had a lot of fun with playing with her toys, she didn’t want to get out. But unfortunately she couldn’t stay in there forever.

I felt quite proud of myself. I know it’s a really small thing to be proud about, but that’s what life is all about, to celebrate the small things.

Today, I will always believe in myself, no matter. I will always make sure I believe in myself. I am capable of doing the things that I never thought I was capable of doing before. I just got to have some faith in myself.
