Day 52

I have been working on my Happiness Project, and I am still enforcing my January resolutions in February. For those that don’t know, a Happiness Project was inspired by Gretchen Rubin, about how she makes monthly resolutions in various aspects of her life. Each resolution is to help add happiness in her life. I was inspired to start my own Happiness Project. Feel free to get caught up if you haven’t already…

Gretchen has written a book documenting her journey, tilted The Happiness Project. It was an inspirational book.

One of her rules that I have been working on, too, is if it takes 60 seconds or less, don’t procrastinate and don’t get that task done. Get it done now. The amount of energy and stress we have of constantly thinking about this task, and ways to avoid it, is actually more exhausting than doing the actual task at hand. I am slowly reminding my boyfriend about this rule, too. I think that it is a good rule to have and enforce in your house.

Today, I spent about 5 minutes doing various one minute chores, like cleaning a dirty mirror.

One minute tasks include hanging up your coat when you walk in the door, adding more toilet paper to the bathroom, putting your clothes in your hamper, instead of on the floor, and I know they are so many other tasks like this, that for some reason we keep pushing off.

Today, I will focus on getting tasks that no time at all now, instead of wasting time and energy waiting to schedule those tasks in my day, or do it another day. It is best to do things as they happen, instead of waiting to do them later. We can actually save energy, and be less stressed, as well.

Day 51

This lesson is from Saturday.

My boyfriend was making us dinner, and while I was waiting, I was going through my art and crafts bin. I had pulled that out, so I can take some crafts to do with my niece when I was babysitting her last week. I kept it because I wanted to do some crafts myself. I took out some of my colouring and my pencil crayons and started colouring. I picked out my Alice in Wonderland colouring book. I love that movie.

I love that colouring has an ability to calm me, and relax me. Colouring is so soothing. I will definitely be making more time to do crafts this week, especially since it’s almost my boyfriend’s birthday. I also have a lot of colouring books.

Today, I will focus on ways to relax and calm me. Which can be easier than one think. Colouring, and doing arts and crafts are a good way to relieve stress. I personally love to colour. Finding healthy ways to relieve and cope with stress is easier than one might think it is. We just need to think about it more creatively.

Yoga

Every week I like to write small ways we can boost our happiness. I know that some people, like me, are still in their winter. Going through winter can be really difficult, because the majority of the days are dark, without a lot of sun. Although I realize that it can be worse if you are in Alaska, since they go months without sunshine. Winter can just be unbearable. So I have thought of ways that can boost our happiness, with very little effort, and mostly at a cost of nothing. I like to call it Feel Good Fridays. I was inspired by talking to one of my cousins because she was going through life, and came to me, looking for ideas to help boost her energy and motivation. Which is basically how this blog idea was inspired.

The other night, I couldn’t fall asleep, so I thought I would practice doing some yoga. There are various types of yoga, there is calming yoga, and there can be workouts, like core strengthening added to yoga poses, too. I am slowly starting to get into a yoga routine again because of the other night.

If you are new to yoga you can find lots of beginners videos on YouTube. Since this might be a new habit for everyone. But if you like yoga, and would like to practice yoga every day. I suggest starting small. You can find 10 minutes videos. Then before you know you will like to do more. I find it’s easy to start a habit by starting out and taking baby steps, and then you will be able to add more to it.

Yoga has a ton of benefits, aside from the obvious of making you more flexible, but it has other benefits, too. Yoga can help you with digestion, it can strengthen your immune system, it can also help you sleep better.

I have always loved practicing yoga, so I am glad that I am starting to get into a habit again.

Day 50

This lesson is from Friday. I have been struggling to teach myself this, because more often enough, I feel like I can be super hard on myself. I know I shouldn’t be, but sometimes I just can’t help myself.

More often enough I feel like I get so busy, that I end up skipping on my blog posts for a day, or two. I feel bad because I know that I have a lot of fans, or so I like to think so. I feel like I am letting everyone down. So I try my best to come back on as soon as I can. This time I am trying not to be so hard on myself. We are all humans. And sometimes our priorities make us focus on different things, and that’s okay. And then before we know it, we either have ran out of time, or energy. But what is important is that we accept that we aren’t robots, and that it is okay to not be able to finish everything we were hoping to do. Which would help us if we don’t have a long to-do list, instead we should learn to only have a to-do list of three most important things. This will help us learn to not be so hard on ourselves.

Today, I will learn to not be so hard on myself. I would like to encourage everyone to not be so hard on themselves, as well. It is a hard world out there. So we should learn to be easy on ourselves, and to love ourselves, instead of having all of these negative feelings towards ourselves. We are in the middle of a pandemic, still, so all the more reason to go easy on yourself.

Thankful Thursdays #34 – February 18th, 2021

It is important that we spend time reflecting what we are thankful for. It’s important that we express our gratitude. Whatever we send into the universe, comes back to us multiplied. So the more we express our gratitude into universe, the more it comes back to us.

I have a lot to be thankful for this week, and I hope everyone does, too.

Here is my list…

  1. My boyfriend had a snow day, so he didn’t get to go to work that day, instead we just got to hang out together. Which is always fun!
  2. We also watched Tarzan, I haven’t seen that movie in awhile. I really enjoyed that movie.
  3. I am thankful that I got to spend the day watching my favourite show. I love watching Grey’s Anatomy. I’m trying to get myself for its return next month.
  4. I am grateful for spending more time cooking, I love cooking. Yesterday, I even got to watch my show while I cook.
  5. I am thankful that things are getting better with my boyfriend and myself. We have a lot of disagreements lately, but I am glad that things are better now.

Day 49

Ideally it’s best to eat healthy every day. But sometimes it can be hard, and that’s okay. It can be fun to eat unhealthy, from time to time. You can have a lot of fun eating snacks, and foods that aren’t so healthy. We should learn to make food fun, and learn to enjoy it.

My boyfriend and I are had leftover soup for lunch, and for dinner we are going to have chicken fingers, and French fries. I know it isn’t the healthy things for myself. But as long as you don’t overdo your healthy foods, it can a lot of fun.

Everyone should have a day where they don’t have to be worry about eating healthy, or making sure they are doing something they normally do. We need to learn to not be so hard on ourselves when it comes to food. Learn to have fun with your food.

Today, I will learn to have a good relationship with my food. I will learn to give myself a cheat day when I can eat unhealthy foods. It’s important for me to understand that I can have a healthy relationship with food.

WWW Wednesdays – February 17th, 2021

Hey bookworms!

Let’s talk about books! This is a post where I discuss all the books that I have been reading, by answering the following questions…

  1. What have I finished reading?
  2. What am I currently reading?
  3. What will I read next?

Unfortunately, I didn’t have much time to myself this week, so I wasn’t able to finish a lot of books as I was hoping for. I managed to finish one book, which was a really good book.

  1. What have I finished reading?

This book was suspenseful. It is my first book that I have read by Chris Bohjalian. I can’t wait to read his other stories. This novel tells the tale about how a flight attendant, Cassie finds her in some trouble. She just traveled to Dubai as one of her travels for work. She wakes up in the wrong hotel room, where she finds out she is laying next to some guy. She then looks at him, and realizes that he is dead. She is far way from home, and doesn’t know what she do.

I can’t wait to start watching the TV show soon.

My rating: 3.75 stars out of 5

2. What am I currently reading?

I first picked up this book up when I wanted to watch this series. I have this thing, that I like reading the books before I watch the shows, or movies.

3. What will I read next?

I love reading Ruth Ware, she writes suspenseful, and thriller novels. I haven’t read one of her books in awhile. I have been waiting for this book a little while now from the library.

Day 48

I have learnt throughout my life that life is stressful. But there are things that we can do in order to make life less stressful, which is why yesterday I spent the day having a marathon of my favourite show. It was just so much fun to curl up in my blankets and drink hot chocolate throughout the day. I also spent some time finishing my book, and making a delicious beef soup.

I have been feeling busy and a bit stressed as of lately, so I needed some me time to unwind. I just focused on things that make me happy. I think it is important that we all take a day off, to truly focus on ourselves. A day where we can forget our problems, and forget about how imperfect the world is. One way to make sure that you always have a Me Day once week, at least, if you can. An easy way to do this is to schedule it like you would with a doctor’s appointment.

Today, I will focus on taking a Me Day. It’s important to take some time to focus on ourselves. I will remind myself that it isn’t selfish to focus on myself. In fact it is necessary to focus on ourselves. It is important to reinvent ourselves. Focus on what makes you, you. There are several ways you can focus on yourself, watch your show, make yourself a cup of tea, eat your favourite foods, stuff like that. Do whatever makes you happy.

Top Ten Tuesdays #25 – February 16th, 2021

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

The rules are simple: Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want. Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to http://www.thatartsyreadergirl.com/ in your Top Ten Tuesday post.

This week is all about Mardi Gras, which is today! So, today’s themes are book covers that are yellow, green and purple.

  1. The Chef

I know this book doesn’t fit the criteria of having a green, yellow, or purple cover, but the events in the book take place during Mardi Gras festivities.

2. Discover Mediation and Mindfulness

3. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

4. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

5. Heidi

6. Many Waters

7. More

8. The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me

9. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

10. James and the Giant Peach

Ceremonial Matcha

Every Tuesday, I like to dedicate a post to Tea Tuesdays. I love tea, so I enjoy writing and sharing photos with everyone about my tea obsession.

Today, my boyfriend and I had Ceremonial Matcha, which was one of our Christmas presents from last year. It was an interesting matcha. This one is more of a natural matcha, and as of lately, we have been enjoying flavoured matcha, so it ta\sted a bit bitter for my liking. I think I am going to have the rest, by mixing it in my flavoured matcha.

My boyfriend and I had this a hot latte, with our matching mugs. Well, same design, but different colour mugs. Mine is the pink, and his is green. These are our matcha mugs.

Matcha is super healthy for you, since it comes from a whole green leaf, so you get more antioxidants from the leaves. It is finely grinded green leaves that is made up of a powder from Japan.
