Advent Calendar of Kindness 2020 Day 14

Today’s challenge is to offer help to a stranger, a loved one, or a friend, or all three if you feel extra helpful. There is a lot of people who need help around this time. You can help someone financially, help them with a task, or give someone your time. There’s so many ways you can help someone.

Today, I helped my sister by offering her my time. My niece was at her Grandparents for the day, so my sister and I had her place to ourselves since her boyfriend was at work. She needed help going through all of her clothes. She has been a bit occupied to spend time sorting, and organizing her clothes. Which is totally understandable since she has returned to work. It is challenging to juggle a job, a house, and be a mom. I wouldn’t know from experience first handedly, but I can see why it is stressful.

We sorted her clothes in various categories: what needed to be washed, and what needed to be donated. My sister had a lot of baskets on hand which made it easy to sort the laundry by person (my niece, my sister, and her boyfriend). When we finished sorting through everything, we carried all of those baskets to her laundry room. That way they would be ready to go for her to do this week.

I helped her vacuum her floors, as well. And I helped her put away my niece’s clothes, since she was able to do one load while I was there.

I am so happy that I was able to help her. She was able to donate a lot of her clothes, so that’s exciting. I’m sure someone will be able to use them and appreciate them more than my sister did.

Advent Calendar of Kindness 2020 Day 14

I thought of this cool concept that instead of having to go into debt, or stress yourself out buying something for someone, we can simply show them how much we care about by practicing random acts of kindness.

Today’s challenge is do donate unwanted clothes to charity, or you can exchange them with family and friends. This challenge is perfect because where I live, the weather is getting colder, so this will be able to help others brace the cold weather.

Advent Calendar of Kindness 2020 Day 12

This world needs more love, and right now we are in a dark place from the whole pandemic. People are in debt, not being happy. But what we can is, we can make others feel happy and good about themselves. Let’s learn to look past the negatives, and these hardships, and instead try our best to focus on the positives. There are positive times, but right now, it is just going to take a bit longer to actually see them.

Today’s challenge is leave a note for someone in your household to find. This note can have anything written on it. You can leave it in their coat, or their lunch bag, or you can hide it somewhere else, maybe a bit harder. You can write a positive affirmation, a favourite memory, a song lyric, a thank you, or I love you. Or if you are better at expressing your feelings through art, and drawing, you can draw them a quick sketch. I’m sure whatever you choose to decorate this note, I’m sure they will still love it.

Advent Calendar of Kindness 2020 Day 11

I thought that this year, we can start something new. Instead of stressing out, and going out to buy all of these presents for everyone. We can spread love and kindness to each other. We shouldn’t have to go into debt to show someone we care and love them.

In today’s challenge, we are going to write, or electronically send a thank you card to a loved one. Let this person, or loved ones if you want to send more than one. Let them know how much you appreciate and love them. I am going to send my boyfriend, my two cousins, and two friends of mine a nice message about why I appreciate them.

Advent Calendar of Kindness 2020 Day 10

I thought it would be a wonderful time for us to send cheer and love, and focus less on the stress, the commercialization of Christmas.

Today’s challenge is to reach out to a friend, or a family member. Whether it’s you sending them a letter, an email, text message, or a phone call, or another way, I’m sure they will love it. We are often too busy and stressing out about our never ending to-do lists, that we miss out on what is truly important.

Today, I got to see my sister, and my niece, which I haven’t seen them in about a month. I felt really happy to see her, and I can tell they were happy, too. We went to the park before the sun went down, that was fun. We had dinner together. While my sister cooked dinner, I got to play with my niece in her room. She was showing me all of her toys. That was a lot of fun. She was smiling when she kept on putting her tiara on my head. That was cute.

Please know that you don’t have to buy this person a gift. Your words will be enough.

Advent Calendar of Kindness 2020 Day 9

Today’s challenge, is going through your books to see if you can donate any to any loved ones, charities, libraries.

I have a lot of books that I have twice, and my sister does, too. Which is how I got to keep Go Ask Alice, because she bought another copy, forgetting about having a copy of it. So I am able to give books away for Christmas, which is pretty cool.

Advent Calendar of Kindness 2020 Day 8

This is Tuesday’s post. Sorry about that, just been busy.

Make a loved one something to eat. I always appreciate someone cooking for me. I have a lot of fun of cooking for others, too.

I feel like the time and money spent on this dinner, is better than a gift. You get to spend time together, and enjoy each other’s company over a delicious meal. To me, that provides me more joy than opening a present.

Advent Calendar of Kindness 2020 Day 7

I would love for Christmas to be more about the joy of being in everyone’s presence, than by making Christmas too commercialized like it has been over the past years. Yeah, it’s cool to receive presents, but that isn’t what Christmas should be about. We shouldn’t have to go in debt to show someone how much we love them.

I have thought of an Advent Calendar filled with challenges that will help spread joy and love, without having to go in debt. I hope these challenges help others find happiness.

Today’s challenge is to tell someone a joke. It’s so much fun to make someone laugh. Although, please make sure you aren’t laughing at anyone’s expense.

My joke is…

What do you call a pair of shoes made from bananas?
A: Slippers

A bonus joke…

What did the ocean say to the shore?
A: Nothing, it just waved.

I would love to hear your jokes in the comments! 🙂

Advent Calendar of Kindness 2020 Day 6

It’s another day, so let’s do another feel good challenge. Today let’s work on taking care of yourself, so we can take care of others.

Today is Self Care Sunday. Let’s take care of our souls. You should do something that is going to make you happy. I don’t know what makes everyone happy, but for me, it’s taking a bubble bath, with some candles. Another one of my favourite is reading with a cup of tea, curled up under a blanket. Or watching my favourite show. Or going for a walk, especially right now that people have their Christmas lights on.

Do something that is going to make you happy and relaxed. Today, I plan on watching football. It’s going to be a lot of fun. I enjoy watching football. Although it isn’t as fun since my team isn’t playing. My team plays on Monday. I’m super excited for it.

Advent Calendar of Kindness 2020 Day 5

I hope everyone is able to participate in at least one of these advent calendar missions. I thought it is better to spread some holiday cheer and love instead of having to buy someone something. Some people are lonely due to their city’s restrictions, so this may just make their holiday even more memorable than their gifts.

Today’s challenge is to give a friend, or a loved one, or anyone whom you interact with throughout the day your undivided attention. It seems like sometimes we may keep glancing at our phones whilst someone is talking to us. Mind you, I’m not saying you have to turn your phone off, completely, because some people might need their phones in case they need to be contacted, because there is an emergency. But when they’re talking to you, I’m sure they would appreciate you if you just listened, instead of watching a show, or playing a game, etc.

Or if you are checking out of a grocery store, have some courtesy by refraining from listening to your music, or talking to someone else on the phone, when they are asking you questions.

The world needs more love, and courtesy.
