Take A Bath

It’s another addition of Feel Good Friday. The purpose of these posts, is these are short and effortless ideas to help you feel better, and improve your overall health.

I’m not sure if many of you remember hating a bath when you were a child, maybe you still hate them now. But if you don’t, I suggest taking one. I find them fairly relaxing. I sometimes bring in candles with me, and a book, sometimes I like to put on relaxing spa music.

Today is the perfect day for a bubble bath since it’s National Take A Bubble Bath Day.

I love ending my days in the bath tub, sometimes I think I was a fish in a past life or something.

Sleep

It’s Friday, so that means it’s time for another post of Feel Good Friday. This post is meant to help us feel better about ourselves in small, easy ways. I’m not asking us to make drastic changes about ourselves. But if we start small, we are able to change so much, and become even more happier.

We must ensure that we give our bodies adequate rest every night. When our phones are about to run out of battery, we don’t expect them to go into overtime, and keep on working past their limits. We simply recharge them, and let them regain their strength. But when it comes to us, we push ourselves into overdrive. We expect so much from ourselves. Even without recharging our batteries.

If you need to continue working on a daunting task, but you are exhausted already, perhaps you can take a 20 minute nap before you jump into the task at a hand. Taking a 20 minute nap will do wonders. It will help you focus again when you wake up. It will allow you to be refreshed, and you won’t feel overtried from taking the 20 minute nap.

Perhaps after your nap, you can make yourself a cup of matcha tea, depending on what time it is, because you don’t want to have that much caffeine that close to bedtime.

Just continue on making sure your body gets enough rest throughout the night. Sleep is really important. It’s one of the most important ways to ensure you work on having a healthy lifestyle.

Watch a Movie

On this edition of Feel Good Friday, my suggestion is to watch a movie. It can be your absolute favourite movie, it can be a Christmas movie, it can be a new movie you haven’t seen before, any kind of movie at all.

Watching a movie will help you out so much. I heard that watching something you have already seen before, it can help relax and calm you, because you already know what is going to happen next.

Later on today, my boyfriend and I are going to watch Soul, it’s the newest Disney movie that is coming out today on Disney+. My boyfriend and I are super excited to see it. I feel like it’s going to be a tear jerker. I love those kinds of movies.

Buy A Houseplant

This is a super late edition of Feel Good Friday. I apologize, I just have been working on getting my house clean and ready for 2021.

I recommend you buy a plant. Buying a houseplant is known to improve your mood. And it also improves your air quality in the room. Talk about something giving you twice the wonder for you. Best part is houseplants don’t cost a lot of money. The benefits are totally worth the few dollars that they cost, at least that’s just my opinion.

Electronic Detox

On this edition of Feel Good Fridays, I am going to talk about the importance of stepping away from electronics (TV, phone, laptop, anything else). Keep mind, I am just talking about a short break, nothing permanent, since there are benefits of technology.

When we have so much exposure to various electronics, it can become overwhelming. The thing that we can learn from technology, is that whenever our devices are getting a low battery life, we plug them in, so they don’t die. And we often to forget to charge ourselves. When our phones, or other devices “die”, they just turn off, but when our energy levels are low, we keep on pushing ourselves. This results in a burnout. It’s good to step back, and do something for awhile.

Even if we take a 15 minute break. It would wonders for the body. In this time, we can make a cup of tea, or coffee, and just really enjoy it. Or we can stretch, or write in a journal. The possibilities are endless. Something else that is beneficial is to turn off electronics an hour (at least) before bed. This will help you fall asleep faster, because your body will become aware that it is bedtime.

Any time spent away from technology will help you relax, and relieve stress throughout your day.

Dance it Out!

It’s another edition of Feel Good Fridays. I actually used to do this, before I saw it on Grey’s Anatomy. It’s called “Dance it Out!”. Whenever you are stressed, it’s best to dance away your stresses. When in doubt, dance it out.

I love dancing to my favourite music, I find that I always feel better.

So, play your favourite tunes, and create your mini dancing party. Dancing makes you brave.

Write in a Journal

In this edition of Feel Good Fridays, I’m hear to talk about the benefits of writing in a journal. If you aren’t much a writer, you can draw a picture, or just jot down some ideas and feelings.

This is a post where I try to encourage us to incorporate small ways to make healthy choices and feel good about ourselves even on what appears to the worst day ever.

Writing in a journal is so simple. It has the power to help calm our minds from racing. You can write out a to-do list, which helps you organize your tasks and shows you which ones to prioritize the important ones, and what needs to be done next. You can write about your goals, and how to make them come true. You can use it to keep your goals on track.

It helps reduce stress, while increasing your creativity as well. It’s your journal, so you can decorate it, however you see fits your style. You can decide when and how often you wish to write in it. You can write every day, or weekly. There are no rules, make your own.

Take a Walk

Today is Friday, which means it is another edition of Feel Good Fridays. It’s where I talk about incorporating a small tip that has healthy outcome on our mental and emotional health. It is really important, more so right now, to focus on our health. Especially with the pandemic still lingering and interfering with our daily lives.

Sometimes learning to take a break from our stressful, and repetitive routines is exactly what we need.

It’s even better when the sun is out, since our bodies are soaking up all of these extra vitamins which is important to have, especially vitamin D, which is known as the Sunshine Vitamin. Vitamin D helps prevent diseases and keep depression at bay.

The best way to give yourself a new perspective is by taking a walk. It doesn’t even need to be a long walk, but as long as you get out of your house, and move. It does wonders for the body. It helps you destress you in a healthy manner. It helps digest your meals. It can help you have a good night’s rest.

You can explore a new area in your neighbourhood. Taking a daily walk helps helps strengthen your bones, and lowers your risk for Alzheimer’s disease. It can help sharpen your mind, too.

You can walk with a family member, or a neighbour, while maintaining social distancing with one another. Or you can listen to your music, or even listen to a Ted Talk, carefully while still obeying traffic rules. Or you can just walk in peace, enjoying the sounds of nature, the sky, and the flowers. Whichever way you do it, there is no wrong way.

Today, I plan on taking a walk to the library. I can’t wait to go. I like to listen to music when I walk. Although this time I was planning on taking a different route there, it’s always fun to mix things up.

Get out and enjoy the day! Your body will thank you.

Relax

In this edition of Feel Good Friday, I am encouraging everyone to spend some time relaxing. It is important to schedule in some time throughout the week to unwind.

If it’s possible you should spend the last 15 to 20 minutes of your day dedicating time for you to relax. Whether it is you writing in a journal, reading, meditating, practicing yoga, etc. Being able to spend time forgetting about your stresses and worries, is so beneficial to your mind and body.

It is a good feeling to just not think about your stresses. Don’t complicate it, you can simply unwind by watching your show, having a bubble bath. Your mind and body will thank you for it.

If you don’t make the time to relax or unwind, your body will pick a time for you. Trust me, it is better for you to pick the time to relax instead of your body.

Reading A Book

This is a late post from yesterday. I am writing about Feel Good Fridays. It’s where I write about ways to feel good about ourselves. Yesterday, I walked to the library, and I got a book that I wanted to read for a really long time. It’s called White Oleander.

I think reading is a good way to relax the mind. At least it does that to my mind. Reading makes me feel good. It’s a good way to unwind. Depending on what you are reading you can learn something from it.
