Broken & Beautiful by Kelly Clarkson

Every week, as part of Music Mondays, I post a positive song to kick start the week! This week is Broken & Beautiful by Kelly Clarkson. I grew up loving Kelly Clarkson. I first saw Kelly Clarkson on American Idol, and I admired all of her songs since then.

She just recently went through a divorce. This is her anthem saying that our hardships can break us down, but that’s okay, because we are broken, but we are still beautiful, and that is what counts. Being broken doesn’t mean anything bad, it talks about how we can overcome these hardships, and come back even stronger.

“I don’t need you to lower the bar for me
I know I’m Superwoman, I know I’m strong
I know I’ve got this ’cause I’ve had it all along
I’m phenomenal and I’m enough
I don’t need you to tell me who to be”

Beautiful – Christina Aguilera

It’s another Monday, which means it’s another Music Monday!

The song I have picked is Beautiful by Christina Aguilera. What I love about this song is that it inspires others to not listen to what other people say about them, because everyone is beautiful in their own way. When I was younger, I always admired her voice, and now that I am much older, I can appreciate the message and the meaning even more now.

Another thing that I like about this video, is that she showcases a positive light on several topics before they were first mentioned, like a gothic look, same sex couples. Considering this video came in 2002, it brought forth a lot of recognition of these topics. I appreciate Christina coming forward and bringing awareness that everyone is human, and beautiful. We shouldn’t let others bring us down.

“I am beautiful no matter what they say
Words can’t bring me down
I am beautiful in every single way
Yes, words can’t bring me down, oh no
So don’t you bring me down today”

-Christina Aguilera, Beautiful

Gratitude

My boyfriend and I hung out with his friend when I finish work. We had lunch together. It was nice although I am slow eater so I felt bad for his friend for waiting for me. I didn’t feel as bad for my boyfriend because I’m sure he’s used to it now.

Then when I went to my boyfriend’s house he surprised me with yellow calla lilies. Which two fun facts despite being called a lily they aren’t actually lilies and the word calla comes from the Greek term for beautiful.

Today I will show my appreciation for someone else’s efforts.
