On Thursday, I had a busy but fun day with family, so that’s why I didn’t post any thing new, but now I am getting all caught up.
I have a lot to thankful for this week.
I saw my niece (on Thursday), we got to hang out for a bit. She’s such a cutie, she’s 17 months old.
I am happy that my boyfriend and I had a fun weekend, we had a little “camp out” in our room, and we watched two movies with snacks.
I am grateful for being nominated for two awards this week. One called The Sunshine Blogger, and the other one was The Liebster Award. It is such a honour to be recognized by fellow bloggers and telling me how much they love my blog.
I am thankful that my Grandparents bought me a cup of tea yesterday. I felt really fortunate to spend time with them, I don’t get to see them that often, so it was a nice treat to see them again.
And finally the last thing I am thankful for is being able to watch all of my favourite sports such as hockey and basketball in the summer.
I would love to hear what you are thankful for this week.

My Questions
Who do you feel most comfortable with, and why? I feel most comfortable with my sister and my boyfriend, My sister because I grew up with her. When we were younger, I would spend my weekends in her room having a sleepover. We played Barbies, she would read us stories, we would watch movies together. We were always close when we were younger, and we are still close now, but sometimes it can be challenging since life is busy. I’m comfortable with my boyfriend because we have been together for five years, and we live together. We are comfortable telling each other our hopes and dreams with another. We can be vulnerable with each other.
Who is the kindest person you know? Describe their kindness. This one is challenging, because I know so many kind people. I would have to say my second cousin is the nicest person I know, because we are able to talk about all sorts of subjects. We give each other advice, and she has great things to say to me. And she even offered my boyfriend and I to spend a few nights at her, when our household was becoming too stressful for me. She thinks of the right things to say to me regarding feedback and encouragement to face my fears. I just enjoy talking to her so much.
What is your favorite blog that you’ve posted? Why? This one is challenging because I have written so many blog posts… I would probably say, Second Chance, the one where I got hit by a car, because I was inspiring other people to chase their dreams, and to never give up. If you would like to read it, here is the article. I was very lucky that day, because I walked away with only bruises.
I feel like there are probably other ones that I have enjoyed writing, but those were the first ones to come to mind.
If there was a way you could infuse an act of kindness habit into the everyday life of all people in the world, this habit as natural as the daily action of brushing their teeth, what would that kindness habit be? I would say spreading joy and positive vibes to others. It could be as simple as, “I like your scarf!” Or “You have a lovely smile, or eyes.” When we compliment people, it not only lifts other people’s spirits, but ourselves as well. Or even just let people know that they are doing a good job with raising their children, or any kind of service; let them know that you’re proud of them.
My Questions 1. What is your favourite three course meal? 2. What is something that makes you angry? 3. Would you rather have a magical machine that cleans your dishes, or washes your clothes? 4.What was the longest span of time you have gone without any sleep? 5. How would your closest person describe you? 6. What is something you regret? 7. What is something that you can’t go a day without doing? 8. What is the biggest struggle you have overcome? 9. If you had the ability to erase something that you did in the past, what would it be? 10. What do you think are your greatest strengths?

My Answers:
1. Give us a little insight into your blog? My blog is about becoming the best version of yourself, by making better habits, believing in yourself and learning to be comfortable with having less stuff, debt, and other anchors that hold you back. I provide encouraging and positive posts to everyone. My other interests that I love talking about are tea and books.
2. Why did you start blogging and for how long now? Well, I first started my blog back in May of 2015, blogged for a bit a year straight. I got busy with life, and finally came on May 28th, of this year, and have been blogging consistently since. I began my blog because my coworkers recommended that I start blogging since I was always optimistic, and provided wonderful advice.
3. What has been the most challenging aspect of blogging for you? Sometimes I feel like it can be a challenge to come up with new posts without coming across as me repeating myself. I have tried new posts, like I have done a Gratitude Challenge, Decluttering Challenge, resetting your finances and now I’m writing some cool stories. One of my favourite topics is Music Mondays, it’s where I post an empowering and uplifting song to help you kick start the week.
4. How do you motivate yourself when you feel discouraged? Whenever I feel discouraged, I normally would either make myself a cup of tea, or meditate, or practice some yoga poses or go for a walk. I either message or talk about it with my boyfriend, or my best friends or my two cousins. I sometimes journal my thoughts and feelings out. I also like to read to book, or even just take a nap. It really depends on the weather and time of day. Any of the above would help me feel better.
5. What do you enjoy most about blogging? The things I enjoy the most about blogging is being able to spread joy and positive vibes to other people who may be going through challenging times, or just want to make improvements on their lives. I love being able to give someone my feedback from my personal experiences to help people see that it may be difficult to start these new journeys, but the end results are amazing. I just always believe that you can change your life for the better. And that whatever people are going through right now, it’s only temporary, and things do get better.
6. If you could make one wish, what would it be? This one is so challenging, because there is so many things I would wish for, but I think I would like to be a bit more famous. And I mean that in a good way, because I feel like I have so much to offer to people. I have great ideas on short story ideas, and I just wish everyone would be able to read my ideas. It would be so cool to go on book tours, and go on talk shows and such. With that fame and money, I will be able to donate money and help out communities in need. I like giving back to others.
7. What makes you the happiest and why? Writing a short story, or reading a new book with a latte. I enjoy getting lost in a story because it’s like escaping to a whole new adventure. As lame as this might sound, but I picture the characters as people I care for, and see them as close friends of mine. Reading and writing helps relax me, and it’s always fun to be creative. It’s good to keep your mind active and sharp.
8. What do you prefer, calling or texting? I prefer texting, but I don’t mind a phone call from someone dear. I used to save my big and good news for in person, but now during these times, I save any good news for a phone call. Because my Grandpa lives in a retirement home now, I unfortunately can’t visit him like I used to, so I have to call him instead. It makes me sad, but I am glad that I get to talk to him a lot.
9. Are you talker or listener? Honestly, I like to be both. I like to give people feedback, but I can’t provide people feedback and advice if I don’t listen to people. By being a talker, I can help and encourage people to want to make better changes for themselves.
10. Your hobbies? I have a bunch of hobbies. I enjoy reading, writing, making and drinking tea. I love listening to music, cooking and blogging.
11. What appeal to you most soul or appearance of a person? I am more so attracted to someone’s soul. I try not to judge a book or a person by their cover or their appearance. I appreciate a good, kind heart.

Hi everyone! Yesterday, I took the morning and afternoon to unplug, and participated in my readathon. It was a relaxing experience. I was in total silence, no TV, no music, and I refrained from using my phone.
I have my phone on silent all the time, and spend time checking up on any messages, email, and other notifications. I have always been like that ever since I had my phone. And there were times where I have misplaced my phone in my house, and someone would say they were going to call my phone to find it. But that would never work out, since it’s on silent. I felt like with having it on loud, or even on vibrate, then you’re automatically inclined to respond to whatever is wanting your attention right away. I don’t like giving my phone that much control and power. Now, I reply whenever I have the time, or when I want to get back to that person.
It’s hard for some people to understand, because they assume that if you don’t reply back to them within the same minute they sent you something, you must be ignoring that person. Well, to be fair, I used to be one of those people, but now I understand the value of time, and not everyone is going to prioritize their phone’s notifications. It is a freeing experience.
Although I know it must be a bit strange for someone who has a blog that unplugs every now and again. I am still going to blog, but throughout the day, I will be practicing unplugging from technology. There’s more important things to do in life, than to answer the next notification on your phone. I have also been trying to cut back on watching TV. I just know that my boyfriend works hard throughout the day, so it can be challenging to suggest another activity. But we have working on other ways to spend time rather than watching TV. We have been playing cards, board games, and reading a book together.
I am happy with the accomplishment I have made yesterday. It can be really fun not being glued to my phone, or my TV. It truly gives me more time to truly focus on me.
I can’t wait to unplug again, and see what else I can learn about myself.
I cannot believe how fast July has came and went. I am thankful for all of the things that I have learned throughout this month. I have learnt to always believe in myself, save money, and being comfortable with having less things.
I have recently quit my full time job to pursue a career in blogging. That was a huge leap of faith for me. I have never quit a job without having a steady job lined up. At the same time I felt like it was best for me to move on. I was at my last time on and off for the past three and half years now. I am so happy to no longer be there anymore. I feel like I was made to be my own boss.
I have working on a budget so we can save more money. I have a long list of goals. My boyfriend and I have been working on a budget together. It has been a lot of fun planning and discussing on ways to save more money.
In case you are new to my blog, I have been starting this new journey about decluttering and going through my things so I only have belongings that truly make me happy. I have been purging my things on and off for the past six years or so. This has been a fun journey, and I have been comfortable living and owning less things.
I am quite happy with all of the things I have learned and I can’t wait for all of the new adventures that August will bring me.
I apologize for following a bit behind on my blog posts. I just started working again last week, after taking a leave. It has been challenging and very tiring at the same time. But at least I am off for the day. Yay! That’s always exciting.
Things have been quite difficult this year, but everyone is learning on making adjustments and finding their own ways to cope through these uncertainties. Sometimes even I have had a hard time navigating through all of this. Right now, I have just been trying to get by ensuring that I have enough sleep.
So that explains why I haven’t really active on my site as of lately. Work has been exhausting, and I have a long commute there and back. By the time I get back in, I’m already tired.
I often feel lonely when I am work despite being around my co-workers, because no one there really puts forth much effort to talk to me. I have tried to be friendly with them. I made some coworkers birthday cards, and sympathy cards. Loneliness hits differently, even when you are surrounded by people.
I recall hearing this quote, and it feels like it resonates with me;
“You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and there’s still going to be somebody who hates peaches.”
-Dita Von Teese
I mean, I know that the word hate is a strong word, but I just wish people at work would like and treat me better.
I really hope things get better from here. I mostly talk to my one friend, my boyfriend and my two cousins, and sometimes my sister, but she is always busy these days.
I will try to make more time for my blog, because that is something that makes me happy.
So, where do I begin… I have been off work since mid March due to medical reasons and anxiety. I must say, I have learned a lot of myself that I wouldn’t have gotten to known without all of this extra time. I am really thankful to have had this spare time.
I understand that these were uncertain times for others, but I tried to do my part by limiting the spread of the virus, and perhaps passing it off to others, by staying home. And I know that not everyone had this opportunity, so I hope everyone stays safe.
My boyfriend and I just moved in with one of his friend’s a month prior to my time off from work. I was able to organize and reorganize our room. I was able to remove things that didn’t have much value in our lives. That was a really fun experience.
I am returning back to work tomorrow, so I am little nervous. I know that where I am, there are still cases, but it’s not a relatively large number of cases. It still makes me nervous, but I will make it my priority to stay safe.
These are the things I am going to miss, when I return to work…
Being able to sleep whenever I am tired, and not worrying about having to set an alarm. I can fall asleep at any time. Some days I took full advantage of that. I know this wasn’t healthy, but some nights I slept for ten hours. It was such a luxury to stay in bed until I wanted to do something else.
Having time to exercise. I enjoyed going for a walk in the neighbourhood, especially since it is a new neighbourhood. I was able to make space in my room for my yoga mat to practice yoga routines, and meditation. I live pretty far from where I work, so by the time I leave in the morning, work, come back it’s basically dinner time. I know, I am not the only one who has this problem, and I know that some people have children to take care of as well. But I see the problem, and I have solutions to fix this situation.
The feeling of not being stressed or anxious about a work related problem. It has been peaceful to not have to deal with any of these problems.
The freedom of having spare time. I had time to declutter, read books, clean and blog again. I am so thankful for using this time for good use for myself.
It made me realize that I can do and be anything I want. I would love to be my own boss, and have freedom doing whatever I like. I loved creating my own schedule and my own to-do list. That is probably the thing I am going to miss the most from the whole quarantine. It was such a luxury. The whole experience made me realize that I am always one decision from a different life.
I will try to continue to do the things I have learnt during this spare time. I will also try to coordinate the things I had time to do, into my new schedule.
I am a huge believer that whatever you manifest into the universe, comes back to you. That’s why I always try to keep my thoughts positive. Whenever I think positively, positive things tend to come my way. And whenever I say the things that I don’t want to happen, they typically come true. But if you are able to use the same energy for something bad, you may as well put forth positive energy instead.
Think back to your last bad day, where you kept on thinking to yourself, “What else can happen?” or something along those lines, and the day just seems to keep on getting worse. That’s because you are sending out to the universe that you want bad things to keep on happening to you. It’s all a matter of changing your thoughts from negative to positive.
This is my vision board, that I keep by my bed, so it’s the last thing I see at night and the first thing I see in the morning. These are the ideal times to reflect on my goals and how I envision my future. I encourage everyone to have a vision board, because it really showcases what you truly want in the future.
Your vision board can entail anything from quotes, to pictures of your dream job, your dream house, a pet, anything you would like to have in the future.
For me, the outer cue cards are mostly quotes about being positive and being grateful. In the middle you can see a cut out of my hand that I traced to add more of a personal touch to my vision board, which features specific and personal goals.
I know this isn’t the best photo, but this was the only one I could capture without a shadow from my phone. Starting from the top left corner, and continuing to go right, then down, then left, then back up to the top.
“Girl, you already have what it takes!”
“The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.”
“Working hard is important, but there is something that matters even more, believing in yourself.”
“Never give up on a dream, just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.”
“You are the author of your life, if you don’t like how it goes, write it differently.”
“Create the highest, grandest vision possible for your life, because you become what you believe.” -Oprah Winfrey
“Wear gratitude like a cloak, and it will feed every corner of your life.” -Rumi
“Know your limits, then ignore them.”
“You are what you manifest.”
“The key is not to worry about being successful, but to instead work towards being significant – and the success will naturally flow.” -Oprah Winfrey
“If you want it, work for it!”
“Dream. Believe. Do. Repeat.”
“I am open to the flow of great abundance in all areas of my life.”
“The best is yet to come.”
“Be the energy you want to attract.”
“Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times. If one only remembers to turn on the light.” LUMOS! -Dumbledore
For those who haven’t read Harry Potter, Lumos is a spell the students say so their wands can illuminate which allows them to see in the dark. Lumos stems from the Latin word lumens meaning light or lamp.
And I was a bit creative because there are five aspects of life such as, work, health, spiritual, learning and social. So I figured what better way to broadcast these five aspects of my life then by tracing of my own hand.
I). The pinkie finger is Work: Be my own boss. Meaning that I would love to be able to be a full time blogger and influencer. I would just rather work for myself, and achieve my goals, than having to work for someone else’s dreams. I would have a lot of freedom of making my schedule and keeping my profits. Having had this time off from work due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was an eye opener and it made me realize that having to work for someone else, isn’t what I want to do right now.
II). The ring finger is Health: Maintain a healthy lifestyle. I would be able to do this by ensuring that I exercise more and eat healthy whole foods. This one can be a challenge because I love chocolate and other sweets. I know that those are okay, in moderation, but sometimes, I just don’t understand moderation. LOL!
III). The middle finger is Learning: Always read and learn new languages. I’m sure there are other things I want to learn too. But I want to read all of the books on my bookshelves first, and they are a lot of books that need to be read. Right now I am learning French (again), as a refresher, although I have been able to remember a lot of words and phrases from high school. I always love learning new things.
IV). The index finger is Social: Make time for family and friends. I haven’t been able to hang out with my family and friends since the coronavirus lock down. I know that I will be able to hang out with them soon enough.
V). The thumb is Spiritual: Practice yoga and meditation, and always follow my heart. ❤ I believe that meditation heals and resets the soul. I feel like whenever you are stressed out, especially, meditation helps by sorting out and guides you with the answers to your problems. I love practicing yoga because it helps relaxes me as well, and it allows me to flexible and release stress. Practicing meditation and yoga helps me be mindful of my breathing and it provides me with enlightenment. Following my heart is always important to because not everyone understands my feelings, the only person that does, is me. At the end of the day, I must do what is best for me.
I hope seeing my vision board inspires you to think of some cool ideas for your own. I would love to see your future boards in the comments. And as always feedback and encouragement is appreciated.
Let’s be thankful for enjoying a hot beverage in the morning. My beverage of choice is a tea latte. I love blogging when I wake up, especially with a latte.
I normally have different teas throughout the day. It is such a peaceful way to begin the day. Although the majority of the time, my first tea is normally one with high caffeine to get me going.
Five years ago, I worked at a fast food restaurant, and I had the best co-workers. They were always so nice and understanding. I loved that we all got along well. It made the shifts go by much faster. I would always be the happy-go-lucky person. I was happy to be there because it meant that I got to work with amazing people.
I would always send them my positive energy to them. I can tell some days they needed an extra boost of positive vibes. I was reading a lot of self help books at the time, because I felt like there was a void in my life. I was going through a transitional period at that time. My mama and I moved out of my childhood house and I was starting a new job. I was looking for a way for a new way to better myself. I wanted to feel more happier about the whole situation. After reading a few of those books, you can say I became the positive guru.
During that time I went to my friend’s mom’s writing workshop. At the end of the workshop we were encouraged to share our piece, if we wanted to. I loved sharing my words with others. I had rediscovered my passion for writing.
I would encourage my co-workers that we all should drink water with lemons or cucumbers since they provided many health benefits. I loved bringing in my water bottles with lemon and cucumbers. I had this water bottle that said “Don’t wish for it, work for it.” They ended up following my trend. It made me feel that my words and thoughts had a positive impact on others.
“Don’t wish for it, work for it.”
I had these daily affirmation cards and I would bring them into work and we would talk about it lots. I always brought positive vibes with me wherever I went, because you never know who needs it the most.
One day, I casually said I should start a blog. I had some of my self help books authors started with a blog so I had become inspired by their beginnings. All of my co-workers said that I should totally do that, since they can see me doing that because I am always a positive person.
My first blog posts were about the writings from the workshops. I later built on to some other topics about how to better yourself, how to be a positive person and how to reach your goals. Whenever I blogged about anything, I felt like I was doing something amazing. I was spreading positive vibes to others, and helping people believe in themselves.
I am so thankful for the people I have worked with and met on the way. My co-workers were always so nice to me. They threw me a surprise birthday party. They always believed in me. I am happy that I am still in touch with them, five years later.
For all of my fellow follower, how did you start blogging and why? I would love to read the reasons in the comments. 🙂
