What is New With Me?

Firstly, hey everyone! I hate that it has been so long since my last post! But I hope that everyone is well. This year has been difficult. I’ve been feeling down most days. I’ve been feeling sad because of the losses I have encountered this year, so that’s been a bit challenging trying to find the positives in things as of now.

I’ve been working two jobs, which can be tiring, but it has also been rewarding, too. Since I am always working a lot, I end up not having as much time to myself as I would like to have. I do miss having more time to cook some of my delicious meals. So I try to make sure that I budget my time wisely to ensure I get things done and that I can make time for fun. I’ve also been able to try out new restaurants, and making time for people. I’ve also been getting my nails done, which has been a lot of fun! I do enjoy having an active social life.

And during the transition of starting my two jobs, my Grandma passed away. I was really upset about it, because my Grandma helped shaped me into the person that I am today. She has taught me so much, like how to be polite and the importance about using my manners. She passed down her love for cooking and baking to me. Although I feel like I have lost her even before she passed away, because she was sick for throughout a good portion of my life. So I was slowly watching her lose who she was piece by piece. But I am able to find comfort in the fact that she is now reunited with my Grandpa in Heaven.

I have recently reconnected with a friend last year, but it just been feeling like there has been a lot of space between us as of lately. So that can be lonely somedays, and can make me feel a bit sad. I think about my friend from time to time, always sending them good vibes. But this friend does bring me a lot of happiness, so I am glad that we got to reconnect. I think the last time I saw was about eight years ago, or so. We still talked during those times. I’m glad that we are apart of each other’s lives again!

Throughout the year I have been blessed to reconnect and talk to people I haven’t spoken to for a little while, which has been so much fun catching up with everyone. I am thankful for the people who have been by my side no matter what has happened between us.

I am hoping that this year can end on a positive note. This year and the year prior has been difficult for me. I still plan on achieving my goals that I have put in place for myself. I want to go back to school, but I am still figuring what I want to pursue, which for some reason has been challenging, because I can envision myself doing many different jobs.

But I also have some other goals that aren’t job focused per se, such as making more time for reading, and blogging, saving up money, and going through my belongings and the things I own. In hope that I can remove some of the excess stuff that I no longer need. I also want to work on saving up so I can travel! I miss being able to write my own stories. I have written some short stories on here before. I will probably edit them and make them better. But if you are interested in reading these stories. https://yellowdaisies3.wordpress.com/category/writing-wednesdays/

I actually want to start a book club, where hopefully a few people on here will be interested in joining me talk about the book of the month. I have never really been a part of a book club, but I have always wanted to partake in them. I have read a few books from the Oprah Winfrey’s Book Club, and Reese’s Book Club. But I unfortunately haven’t been able to interact with everyone else who has read the books.

I cannot wait to be able to make these goals and dreams happen for me! I hope that the end of this year can lead into a happy and adventurous 2023! I am so beyond happy for myself!

I will be talking more about my Book Club which I have worked out the details of the book I have selected and think of some discussion questions. I am so excited! This is my first time hosting a Book Club, so I do need a bit of research first. Stay tuned!

I would love to know how everyone has been over this year! I would love to catch up with all of you! Please comment and I’ll reach out to everyone. It can be anything from your biggest struggle, a triumph, something that you accomplished, or something you wish to accomplish, or anything you wish to talk about. I would love to reconnect with my followers!

With Love,
Three Yellow Daisies xo

Day 79

I have been spending a lot of time reading Melody Beattie’s The Language of Letting Go: Daily Meditation on Codependency, and I have become inspired to write my own daily meditation to inspire others. Which is what inspired to write these daily writing ideas. I think it is a wonderful idea to help people shift their mindsets about various life paths. Maybe people had bad days and need to believe in themselves again. I write about life lessons I have either learned that day, or I have learned at some point in my life. Mind you things that I have learned, may work for some, but not for everyone, and that is okay! Sometimes people may or may not like what I write about, and that’s okay, too! Take what you like, and leave the rest is something that I like to live by as well.

This is from Saturday March 20th.

Something I have learned from my Grandpa was that we have the ability to live the lives we are destined to live. We are always one decision away from a completely different life. The power doesn’t have to belong to anyone else, but ourselves. We can ask people for advice, but at the end of the day, the power to decide and to act on these decisions is left in our hands. We are the ones that actually walk down these paths, no one else can walk this journey for us. We have the power to do anything we want. We can change our career paths, we can start a new chapter in our lives, and so much more.

Today, I will seek advice from others, and research ideas of how to make the changes I want in my life. I will understand that the power to make these changes are within me. I don’t necessarily need anyone else’s opinions to change my life. It’s up to me to decide what is best for me. There isn’t anything I cannot do, for the world is filled with many opportunities. I am more than capable of seizing anything I want to achieve for myself.

Through the Pages

I was dusting off my bookshelf and I was inspired by how much of a variety of books I have, so I thought of several cool ideas for this post.

I wanted to see if I can spell out my name with the starting letters of the books, my name is Julianne. Unfortunately I don’t have any books that start with the letter J, so I improvised with Dear John. It is the closest thing I could find.

The books I picked are…

J for Dear John by Nicholas Sparks
U for Unfu*ck Yourself by Gary John Bishop
L for Lethal White by Robert Galbraith
I for I am Malala by Malala Yousafzai
A for Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Other Tales by Lewis Carroll
N for Never Too Late by Gail Vaz-Oxlade
N for The Now Effect by Elisha Goldstein, PhD
E for East Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert

A book that takes place in my country. I live in Canada, so I picked Anne of Green Gables written by Lucy Maud Montgomery. This book takes place in Prince Edward Island, which is somewhere I would love to travel to. My boyfriend and I were planning on going there this summer, but the whole Covid-19 pandemic sort of ruined our plans, although we’ll definitely rearrange our plans so we can visit there. I cannot wait!

Places I would to travel to… Denmark.
Well I would like to travel to other places, but I was trying to use as many books as I can. Denmark is known to be one of the happiest countries in the world, so I am so excited to travel there. I found this book quite helpful to feel cozy and enjoy the simple things in life.

The Little Book of Hygge: The Danish Way to Live Well

Places I have traveled to… New York and North Carolina. The Fantastic Beasts takes place in New York, whereas Safe Haven takes place in North Carolina.

A book where I can relate to one of the characters the most. I would say I am like Hermione Granger. I love her, I even dressed up as her for Halloween a couple of times. I can relate to her since we are both book smart people, and we love reading.

A book that is about school or takes place at a school.

A book that turned into a movie. I picked Matilda, because I must have watched the movie a million of times growing up. My Dad would take my sister and myself to the video store, and this was our choice all the time.

A book with a number. I picked 24/6 by Tiffany Shlain. I haven’t read it yet, but what interested me in buying this book was that it encourages us to unplug at least one day a week. That is something I would like to do.

A book about poetry. These are actually my two favourite poetry books. Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein was something that was always read to me at school. The Sun and her Flowers is something I have found not too long ago, I really enjoyed it.

A book about a TV show, I picked Talking as Fast as I Can by Lauren Graham, who played Lorelai Gilmore in Gilmore Girls. She was one of my favourite characters, and she even inspired me to go to Business school.

A book about my future career. I know that I want to obtain a degree in accounting, but I haven’t actually decided which career to pursue with it. There’s a lot I can do with an accounting degree. I know that I will figure it out in time, so I’m not worried. I also haven’t had experience in every aspect of accounting in my studies yet. My uncle is an accountant, too so he is also recommends that I pursue my Masters in Business Administration.

A book from a different time period. I have picked Little House in the Big Woods from The Little House in the Prairies series written by Laura Ingalls Wilder. This book is special to me since my mama and I used to read this all the time.

A book about my favourite hobby, which is cooking. One of my specialties is cooking soups, chicken noodle soup is my go to soup. I actually learned to make it by tasting it, and figuring what to add next. I am quite proud of myself.

Day Eighteen

Hi friends! Wow, I can’t believe we are almost at the end of our 21 Day Gratitude Challenge. I hope you are starting to notice the difference already. And if you haven’t, that’s okay, sometimes things take a little while for great things to harvest.

Today, we are going to express our gratitude for our hardships and how we’ve overcame a challenge in our lives. Our challenges is what strengthens us. These experiences makes us realize what we truly want in life. We realized that we owe ourselves the best life possible. Maybe we come to the realization that we deserve a better job, where our work gets appreciated; a new job bring us new and great opportunities. Look for something better. Trust me. Staying at a job for too long, especially if you are unhappy, is almost like a waste of life. Your days are far more valuable to be anything but happy.

Or perhaps you come to the realization that you’re at the end of a loveless relationship or you realize that this isn’t going in a direction you had thought it was going in. And it’s okay to end a relationship or even take a break from each other. Just make sure you and your partner are respectful of each other.

For me, I feel like I need a new job because the one that I currently have just isn’t making me happy right now. So I just want something new and something that is fulfilling.

Do not let your hardships define who you are, but use them as stepping stones to get where you need to be. These kinds of changes don’t happen overnight. Be patient and gentle on yourself.

Whenever you overcome something you thought you couldn’t, you learn to appreciate your hard work and how you got there. Life and success aren’t mapped out in straight lines, so just because it took a little while longer than you thought it would, don’t be so hard on yourself.

For example, perhaps you are 33, and want to go back to school and pursue a different career like nursing. You might think that you’re “too old” because it is a four year major. Well guess what? In four years you’ll still be 37, you may as be a nurse too. So you go and get that major!

And also another thing is, you shouldn’t compare yourself to other people. Everything will come to you when it is needed to come to you, when you need it. Not a minute late or earlier. This is where you are supposed to be. Don’t compare your chapter, to someone else’s book. Keep doing you. And never do anything you don’t want to do. Never let others persuade or pressure you into doing something you don’t want to do.

Don’t let anything or anyone bring you down. You go out and preserve. You can triumph your obstacles. I believe in you. Chase your dreams, and don’t let your hardships stop you from being you are destined to be.

“I made it through the darkest part of the night

And now I see the sunrise

Now, I feel glorious.”
