Minimalist Game Day 20

The rules are simple, you get rid of things from your life, either by selling them, throwing them away, or donating them. On the first day, you remove one item, and then on the second day, you remove two items, you keep on playing until it’s the end of the month, or whenever you run out of things to remove from your life. It is okay if you can’t make it until the end of the month. Personally, I would rather see items get donated, or sold to someone else. If you must throw something away, I hope it’s because it isn’t fixable. Even if you have removed three items from your life, you should still be proud of that, because it is three more things you removed before the challenge. But if you are able to complete this challenge, you would have gotten rid of almost 500 items! That’s a lot of stuff.

This is from Saturday March 20th.

This is an old pair of yoga pants that I no longer use. I’m happy to give these to my Grandma, so she can give them to one of her neighbours.
Another pair of yoga pants.
Old tea tins, that I finished up.
Another pair of yoga pants.
Two old and probably expired hair products.
Two body sprays that I am going to give my cousin because I don’t use these anymore.
I finished this bubble bath product, so I can recycle it. A new lip balm that I do not need.
Two old and dirty coasters. My cousin gave me new ones for Christmas, so my boyfriend and I can let these ones go.
An old day planner, and a calendar from last year that I no longer need.

3 bags of tea that I consumed

Minimalist Game Day 18

The rules are simple, you get rid of things from your life, either by selling them, throwing them away, or donating them. On the first day, you remove one item, and then on the second day, you remove two items, you keep on playing until it’s the end of the month, or whenever you run out of things to remove from your life. But if you are able to complete this challenge, you would have gotten rid of almost 500 items! That’s a lot of stuff.

This is from March the 18th.

This is an old hair product that my mom gave me so long ago. The next item is expired hand cream that I have had for a few years. The third item is an old lip gloss from several years ago. The fourth item is expired hand cream that I was given as a gift, but it was from a long time ago, so it’s best to let that go. And the last item is this container my mom gave me some snacks in, but she didn’t need it back, so I just recycled it.
The top item is an envelope I no longer need anymore. I just recycle them. On the left is a notebook, I used to write in from time to time. I’m going to recycle the pages I wrote on, and give whatever is left to my cousin. On the right is a dream journal that I plan on giving to my cousin as well.
My two old phones from back in the day. I accidentally dropped my phone, so that explains the huge cracks on the phone. I am taking to get them recycled at one of this electronic recycling drop offs.
I bought this shirt because at the time I was going through my shopping phase of my life. I loved shopping. And now I am grateful that I don’t have the desire to do much shopping, at least for clothes anymore.
I bought this shirt, because I wanted to have more dressy shirts, and dress nicer. Unfortunately this shirt doesn’t fits me since I grew a little bit, and no longer touches the top of my pants.
This used to be my favourite scrunchie, but sadly, it became a headband. It somehow came undone, and I don’t know how to put it back to the way it used to be.
More expired lip products. One is a lip balm, and the other is a lipstick.
Unfortunately I grew a little bit, so it no longer is long enough for my liking. I just know that I will get my niece into liking Harry Potter, so I am going to sit it aside for her to wear, when she is older.
More body spray. Apparently this is people’s go to present for me, that and lip balm. Which is unfortunate because I have asked for people not to get me these items. So I plan on giving this to my cousin. She might like it.
This is a Kleenex box holder. I guess they were the big rave in the 90s and early 2000s. My Grandma gave me this many years ago, but I just don’t find much use to it.

Minimalist Game Day 13

The rules are simple, you get rid of things from your life, either by selling them, throwing them away, or donating them. If you are participating, I would love to know what you are parting with, feel free to let me know in the comments. This is such a fun way to welcome Spring cleaning.

This is from Saturday March 13th.

In the first photo, I am giving away…

  • Eight tins of tea, two of them I gave to my sister, so she can fill them up for part of her daughter, and step son’s surprise for Easter.
  • A dancing flower, it dances when it has sun shining on it. I think my niece will get a kick out of that.
  • A pumpkin for my cousin, she loves Halloween. I don’t have any purpose for it anymore.
  • A candle that got recycled
  • This light up butterfly that I will ask my cousin if she wants to have this, too. I kind of grow out of it.
  • A pair of socks that I don’t wear.

Is anyone decluttering their belongings right now for Spring cleaning? I would love to know about your journey, and if you need any help.

This is from Thursday March 11th.

At that time, I was going through my jewelry box, sorting through things I no longer wanted. I have gotten a large amount of jewelry such as necklaces, earrings, and bracelets for birthdays, and Christmas, and various other occasions. I don’t really wear much jewelry anymore. Mostly because I work at restaurants, and cafes, and we weren’t allowed to wear that. And now, I don’t really go out, so I don’t wear any.

I plan on letting my cousin go through my jewelry and seeing if she wants anything. And then I let my mom, and Grandma go through it afterwards. And then after that, whatever remains, my Grandma can clean and disinfect it, and see if she knows anyone that would want the rest.

How is everyone’s decluttering process going?

Meditation

Every week, I talk about small ways we can boost our moods, with little to no effort. I became inspired when my second cousin was going through a slump, so I was giving her simple ideas to help boost her mood. I know at some point, we have gone through this slump trying to deal with the effects of the pandemic lockdowns.

I have been working on practicing meditation, and making it a part of my every day life. I feel like I have been able to focus better. Sometimes I felt like I have had some challenges trying to stay focus on somethings. Especially when the tasks takes me longer than it needs to complete. Which is really troubling, and sort of annoying that I had troubles focusing and getting stuff done. But I feel like that since I have been working and making meditations, I feel like I am able to get more things done. I feel like I am able to think more clearly. Meditation has a lot of other benefits, as well, such as helping you get a deeper sleep, helps release stress, and so many more.

Since this is a new practice for me, I have only been setting aside five, maybe ten minutes of meditation every day. I have been working on it, for almost two weeks now. I am definitely proud of myself for keeping up with this habit. I feel like it has been keeping me calm through my the situation with my Grandpa, since he is currently at the hospital.

The five minutes I have been setting aside for a meditation has been so easy, and the effects that it has on my body, mind, and soul have been game changer. I am so happy, and definitely encourage everyone to try meditating. There are so many videos on meditating on YouTube, which is a free service. If you are new to meditating, try looking for a beginner video to start out, and get comfortable with. You would be glad you did.

Yoga

Every week I like to write small ways we can boost our happiness. I know that some people, like me, are still in their winter. Going through winter can be really difficult, because the majority of the days are dark, without a lot of sun. Although I realize that it can be worse if you are in Alaska, since they go months without sunshine. Winter can just be unbearable. So I have thought of ways that can boost our happiness, with very little effort, and mostly at a cost of nothing. I like to call it Feel Good Fridays. I was inspired by talking to one of my cousins because she was going through life, and came to me, looking for ideas to help boost her energy and motivation. Which is basically how this blog idea was inspired.

The other night, I couldn’t fall asleep, so I thought I would practice doing some yoga. There are various types of yoga, there is calming yoga, and there can be workouts, like core strengthening added to yoga poses, too. I am slowly starting to get into a yoga routine again because of the other night.

If you are new to yoga you can find lots of beginners videos on YouTube. Since this might be a new habit for everyone. But if you like yoga, and would like to practice yoga every day. I suggest starting small. You can find 10 minutes videos. Then before you know you will like to do more. I find it’s easy to start a habit by starting out and taking baby steps, and then you will be able to add more to it.

Yoga has a ton of benefits, aside from the obvious of making you more flexible, but it has other benefits, too. Yoga can help you with digestion, it can strengthen your immune system, it can also help you sleep better.

I have always loved practicing yoga, so I am glad that I am starting to get into a habit again.

Day 29

Because my Grandparents were getting tired and a bit overwhelmed with the packing, and loading, we had decided to ask my cousin if she wanted to help us for the day. She had got back saying that she had her stuff to do, so she wasn’t able to help us.

I guess I was reminded that you can’t really force someone to help you, no matter how much you would have liked them to help you. Yeah, sure I was disappointed that my cousin didn’t want to help us, but my Grandparents and I were able to help my mom move her things.

Today, I will not force anyone to do anything that they don’t have time for, or just aren’t able to help with. It doesn’t mean that they don’t love us, they still do, I know it. Sometimes people just say “no” for various reasons, and it usually isn’t a reflection of how they feel towards us.

Day 182 of 192

I cannot believe that there are only ten days left of 2020.

It has been really refreshing to clear out my life and finally go through my belongings. It has been such a relief. I am also glad that I was able to help others in the process.

Today, I am donating this notebook to my aunt. My sister and I used to be obsessed with gel pens. We bought this notebook because the purpose of it was to write and draw in it with gel pens. Unfortunately since all of our pens have died, or has gotten lost. This notebook no longer serves us anymore. My aunt still has all of her gel pens, so I’m sure she will find this useful.

Day 157 of 192

My Grandma knows I like butterflies. I like them because they remind that sometimes in order to make your transformation into to something beautiful, you have to go through a series of darkness. My Grandma gave me a mat for the shower that is supposed to prevent slips and falls. I don’t need to worry about that right now. I don’t know, but I have always found it to be a hassle moving around when cleaning the tub. That’s just me, though.

My cousin also likes butterflies, so I am going to offer this to her, and if she doesn’t like, I’m going to give it to my mom.

Thankful Thursdays #12

Hey everyone!

It always feel like these days keep on going by so fast.

Here is a list of things that has happened to me throughout the week that has made me grateful.

  1. I am thankful that my football team won against my second cousin’s team. Not only did I get to brag about my team winning, but I also got bragging towards her for beating her team
  2. I am grateful that there were many great sales at the grocery store. I not only saved a lot of money, but I was able to buy delicious ingredients for my dinners.
  3. My sister bought me a few groceries when she was doing her own shopping, so that was cool.
  4. I am glad my mom gave me two of her French onion soup bowls. They are oven safe. You are supposed to serve the soup in these bowls, and grate cheese on top of the soup, then you broil it in the oven, and all of the cheese melts perfectly. I can’t wait to use those.
  5. And lastly I am grateful for being able to spend more time throughout my day reading my books.

What are some of the things you are grateful that happened this week?
