A Year in My Life

I wish I could say that this past year has been easy, but truthfully it has been the most extricating, difficult year that I had went through in a very long time. I have experience the loss of many things and people. My world fell apart like a supernova. It all began when my Grandpa passed away last March. His passing broke me, I remember spending days curled up in my bed, crying, and being sad for days on end. I have been replaying a lot of our memories in my head. I have a lot of pictures that I look at when I miss him.

He truly was an amazing person. Everyone loved him and he was everyone’s best friend. He is so missed, but he is forever in my heart. I think about him all of the time.

I had tried taking on a retail job. I have normally just done jobs in the food industry, so it was difficult in the beginning. After months, I have been managing just fine. I have worked a few retail jobs before, so I have been using the skills to my new job. I have actually met some really nice people there. It was a hard adjustment, but now I feel like I can get in the swing of things.

And then unfortunately I experienced another loss when my aunt passed away a few months ago. I miss her so much. I feel bad because I haven’t had many chances to see her recently since the whole covid situation. She passed away so unexpectedly. I always wished I was able to spend more time with her before she passed away. But unfortunately that is life. We all have one last day with everyone, we just never know when that might happen. That is why it is important to stay in touch with the people that matter the most. It should also reinforce us to be kind to each other, since we don’t know what our last words may be to someone.

And another loss that I faced last year, was when my boyfriend and I broke up. We still talk from time to time, we don’t hate each other. We are able to be civil about it.

So this explains why I haven’t been that active in the blog universe.

Although the one good thing about last year is that I was able to reconnect with one of my friends from many years ago. I am happy that the universe decided to bring someone that can bring joy in my life despite taking away people. That is the universe’s way of taking the good with the bad.

After all of the losses I had suffered last year, I truly hope that 2022 is the year for me. Things aren’t exactly perfect right now. But I pray for guidance, and for the strength to not allow myself to stay broken. I will try to rebuild myself so I can come back stronger than ever. My life has been so messy and complicated right now, but what matters is how I rebuild myself after these losses. I have big goals for myself. I am excited for all of the things I have planned to do this year. Of course, I would be documenting my goals and dreams on my blog. I do wish to blog more again.

I truly miss all of you. I hope everyone has been doing well. I appreciate any words of feedback, love and prayers. I will try to get back to everyone who comments. Thank you again for understanding.

Day 80

This lesson is from Sunday March 21st.

Something that is important to me, is to make sure I keep my promises to people, but also to myself as well. This life lesson was reinforced to me at my Grandpa’s epilogue. He has made an importance that we kept our promises. There are things that I have promised myself. I have goals and dreams that I would love to achieve. I don’t want to let myself down, so I am continuing to work hard to ensure that I achieve all of the goals I have for myself.

I hope that there are promises that you are able to keep to yourself and other people, too. It’s important to show that you take accountability for your actions. It shows that you are responsible and credible. It is an important skill to have as an employee, friend, and a family member.

Today, I will try my best to show that I am accountable by keeping my promises to everyone, and to myself. It is important that I don’t let anyone down by not staying true to my word.

Touch the Sky – Brave

Every week, I like to write about a positive song to help us jump start the week. I like to call this segment Music Mondays. This song is from Monday March the 15th.

The song I selected is Touch the Sky, which is featured in the movie Brave. I really enjoy that movie a lot. My Great Grandparents are from Scotland, and the Disney Princess Merida is Scottish, too. I really like that.

To me, this song is about chasing your dreams and accomplishing them no matter what everyone else may say about your dreams. You are capable of achieving anything you set yourself out to accomplish.

“I will hear their every story
Take hold of my own dream
Be as strong as the seas are stormy
And proud as an eagle’s scream”

-Merida, Brave

Why Not? – Hilary Duff

I love starting the week off with positive vibes. I adore Hilary Duff, and I miss watching Lizzie McGuire. I definitely am going to have a marathon of Lizzie McGuire soon!

What I love about this song is that it encourages everyone to go out and chase your dreams. Instead of focusing on the negatives of what may or may not happen to us when we go after our goals, we should go after our goals anyway. I hope that everyone is able to achieve at least one of their goals. It just takes determination, and motivation to accomplish all that you want in life. I feel bad for girls that are growing up without many inspirational songs like this. I feel like there isn’t as much as there was when I was growing up.

“Why not (why not)
Take a crazy chance
Why not (why not)
Do a crazy dance
If you lose the moment
You might lose a lot
So,
Why not, why not”

-Hilary Duff, Why Not

February 1st

I cannot believe how fast January flew by. Now, it is time to make new goals. It’s a bonus fresh start with the month starting on a Monday – new week, and a new month. It’s a powerful day, so we should not let the day go to waste.

Think about what you wish to accomplish, and go for it! Fill your day doing the things you love; our time is limited, and we never know when it might be our last day. You should always make time to work on your goals, as well.

These are amazing goals that we should work on throughout the month.

Spend some time thinking about what you would like to accomplish, and begin to plant the seeds for your goals, and dreams. What you plant now, will harvest by spring time.

Fly – Hilary Duff

Every Monday, I love starting off the week off of a positive note, so I pick a fun, inspiring and motivational song to put us in the best mood ever! I hope this song inspires you to do anything you wish to do.

This week, the song I picked is Hillary Duff’s Fly. It used to be one of my favourite songs, growing up. I love it because it inspires you to showcase your soul to other people no matter what. You may never know who might fall in love with your smile, if you’re always frowning. Regardless you shouldn’t hide who you are, embrace who you are.

You can’t fly if you are still holding onto yesterday’s worries.

“And when you’re down and feel alone
Just wanna run away
Trust yourself and don’t give up
You know you better than anyone else

In a moment, everything can change
Feel the wind on your shoulders
For a minute, all the world can wait
Let go of yesterdays”

-Hilary Duff, Fly

Try Everything – Shakira

Every Monday, I post about a positive and motivational song, so we can start off our week with the right foot.

This week, I selected Try Everything by Shakira. She has a small role in the Disney movie’s Zootopia, or Zootropolis for my viewers in the UK and Ireland. It’s a play on words, of combining Utopia and a zoo. Utopia is where the world is perfect. And for Zootropolis it is for the Metropolis, and how Zootropolis is the capital of the Metropolis. I loved that movie so much. In the movie Shakira plays Giselle, who is this famous pop star, and an amazing dancer. She intentionally or unintentionally wore the same outfit during her Super Bowl 54 concert performance.

For those who haven’t seen the movie, it is about this rabbit named Judy Hopps, and her dream to become a police officer. Although at first her parents are against her becoming a police officer, because it is too dangerous, especially for a rabbit, their family often stay and work on a carrot farm. But despite what her parents tell her, she decides to pursue a career in the police force. It may have been a bit more challenging than she thought, but no matter what, she decides to not give up.

I think we can all learn a lesson or two, from Judy Hopps. She is encouraging us to go after our dreams no one matter how scary they may be, and no matter what. And she makes it known, that she is the one who makes the decisions for herself, she doesn’t feel the need to appease others. I think these are always great traits to have. It’s good to go after your dreams.

Shakira at the Super Bowl 54 in Miami last year.

“Sometimes we come last, but we did our best
I won’t give up
No, I won’t give in till I reach the end
And then I’ll start again
No, I won’t leave
I want to try everything
I want to try even though I could fail”

-Shakira, Try Everything

Almost There

Here is today’s edition of Music Mondays. One of my favourite Disney movies is Princess and the Frog. It’s about this girl Tiana, and how she inspires to have her own restaurants, called Tiana’s Palace. She knows how hard it is going to be to make it work, but she is going to continue to work hard until her dream comes true.

It inspires me because no matter how big or small my goals are, I can accomplish anything.

“So I work real hard each and every day
Now things for sure are going my way
Just doing what I do
Look out boys, I’m coming through”

-Tiana, Almost There

Long Shot – Katy Perry, and Kelly Clarkson

Just a heads up Katy Perry and Kelly Clarkson both recorded this song. It was written by Katy Perry. I really like both versions, so I featured both of them in this post.

To me, this song is about chasing after your dreams no matter how small the chances you have of exceeding it. You still chase after your dream no matter what.

It’s like in football, when the quarterback has to throw the go ahead, or tying touchdown for the game across the field. Yes, it might not be very likely, but there is still a chance of it happening.

We shouldn’t give up our dreams, or no longer pursue them, because there are challenging. We should chase our dreams, because that it what we are meant to do with our lives. If we don’t go after our goals we will more than likely regret not going after it.

“It’s a long shot, but I say why not
If I say forget it, I know that I’ll regret it
It’s a long shot just to beat the odds
The chance is we won’t make it
But I know if I don’t take it, there’s no chance
‘Cause you’re the best I’ve got
So take a long shot”

-Katy Perry, Long Shot

And

Vision Board

I am a huge believer that whatever you manifest into the universe, comes back to you. That’s why I always try to keep my thoughts positive. Whenever I think positively, positive things tend to come my way. And whenever I say the things that I don’t want to happen, they typically come true. But if you are able to use the same energy for something bad, you may as well put forth positive energy instead.

Think back to your last bad day, where you kept on thinking to yourself, “What else can happen?” or something along those lines, and the day just seems to keep on getting worse. That’s because you are sending out to the universe that you want bad things to keep on happening to you. It’s all a matter of changing your thoughts from negative to positive.

This is my vision board, that I keep by my bed, so it’s the last thing I see at night and the first thing I see in the morning. These are the ideal times to reflect on my goals and how I envision my future. I encourage everyone to have a vision board, because it really showcases what you truly want in the future.

Your vision board can entail anything from quotes, to pictures of your dream job, your dream house, a pet, anything you would like to have in the future.

For me, the outer cue cards are mostly quotes about being positive and being grateful. In the middle you can see a cut out of my hand that I traced to add more of a personal touch to my vision board, which features specific and personal goals.

I know this isn’t the best photo, but this was the only one I could capture without a shadow from my phone. Starting from the top left corner, and continuing to go right, then down, then left, then back up to the top.

“Girl, you already have what it takes!”

“The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.”

“Working hard is important, but there is something that matters even more, believing in yourself.”

“Never give up on a dream, just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.”

“You are the author of your life, if you don’t like how it goes, write it differently.”

“Create the highest, grandest vision possible for your life, because you become what you believe.”
-Oprah Winfrey

“Wear gratitude like a cloak, and it will feed every corner of your life.”
-Rumi

“Know your limits, then ignore them.”

“You are what you manifest.”

“The key is not to worry about being successful, but to instead work towards being significant – and the success will naturally flow.”
-Oprah Winfrey

“If you want it, work for it!”

“Dream.
Believe.
Do.
Repeat.”

“I am open to the flow of great abundance in all areas of my life.”

“The best is yet to come.”

“Be the energy you want to attract.”

“Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times. If one only remembers to turn on the light.” LUMOS!
-Dumbledore

For those who haven’t read Harry Potter, Lumos is a spell the students say so their wands can illuminate which allows them to see in the dark. Lumos stems from the Latin word lumens meaning light or lamp.

And I was a bit creative because there are five aspects of life such as, work, health, spiritual, learning and social. So I figured what better way to broadcast these five aspects of my life then by tracing of my own hand.

I). The pinkie finger is Work: Be my own boss. Meaning that I would love to be able to be a full time blogger and influencer. I would just rather work for myself, and achieve my goals, than having to work for someone else’s dreams. I would have a lot of freedom of making my schedule and keeping my profits. Having had this time off from work due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was an eye opener and it made me realize that having to work for someone else, isn’t what I want to do right now.

II). The ring finger is Health: Maintain a healthy lifestyle. I would be able to do this by ensuring that I exercise more and eat healthy whole foods. This one can be a challenge because I love chocolate and other sweets. I know that those are okay, in moderation, but sometimes, I just don’t understand moderation. LOL!

III). The middle finger is Learning: Always read and learn new languages. I’m sure there are other things I want to learn too. But I want to read all of the books on my bookshelves first, and they are a lot of books that need to be read. Right now I am learning French (again), as a refresher, although I have been able to remember a lot of words and phrases from high school. I always love learning new things.

IV). The index finger is Social: Make time for family and friends. I haven’t been able to hang out with my family and friends since the coronavirus lock down. I know that I will be able to hang out with them soon enough.

V). The thumb is Spiritual: Practice yoga and meditation, and always follow my heart. ❤ I believe that meditation heals and resets the soul. I feel like whenever you are stressed out, especially, meditation helps by sorting out and guides you with the answers to your problems. I love practicing yoga because it helps relaxes me as well, and it allows me to flexible and release stress. Practicing meditation and yoga helps me be mindful of my breathing and it provides me with enlightenment. Following my heart is always important to because not everyone understands my feelings, the only person that does, is me. At the end of the day, I must do what is best for me.

I hope seeing my vision board inspires you to think of some cool ideas for your own. I would love to see your future boards in the comments. And as always feedback and encouragement is appreciated.
