Day 66

This lesson is from Sunday.

I have learned that it is okay to ask for help. I have asked my boyfriend for help and see how him and I can come up with solutions to save up money, in order for us to pay down our debts. I have also asked my dad for some money, since my boyfriend had a few days off because there wasn’t any work available for him. I have learned that it is totally okay to ask for help when you need it. We all need each other’s support every now and again.

Today, I will not express any shame of asking others for help. There is no shame to ask anyone. We need to remember that we have a support system, and that everyone is a part of that, is here and willing to help us.

Day Seven

This is from Thursday (yesterday).

Never be afraid to ask for help, and never be afraid to give help to others. My Mama had asked me if I could help her pack for her move. I was happy to help. I made some beef soup for dinner, and I made it in my crock pot. I knew that when she dropped me off back at home that the soup would be finished. I was able to give her some soup. My mama enjoyed the soup.

I love helping people. I have helped out a lot of my family throughout the week, I baby say my niece the other day, so my sister can pick up a shift at work. And then I started helping mom with her packing. It was fun to spend some time with her, since we haven’t since the whole pandemic.

I sometimes feel bad asking others for help, because I know how busy my family is, and some family members I talk to, live far away. So, I mostly just ask for advice, or we just talk. But that’s okay. If I need any help, I normally just ask my boyfriend.

Today, I will not be afraid to ask for help, nor will I be afraid to give help to others. It is a freeing and powerful feeling to be able to help others.

Advent Calendar of Kindness 2020 Day 14

Today’s challenge is to offer help to a stranger, a loved one, or a friend, or all three if you feel extra helpful. There is a lot of people who need help around this time. You can help someone financially, help them with a task, or give someone your time. There’s so many ways you can help someone.

Today, I helped my sister by offering her my time. My niece was at her Grandparents for the day, so my sister and I had her place to ourselves since her boyfriend was at work. She needed help going through all of her clothes. She has been a bit occupied to spend time sorting, and organizing her clothes. Which is totally understandable since she has returned to work. It is challenging to juggle a job, a house, and be a mom. I wouldn’t know from experience first handedly, but I can see why it is stressful.

We sorted her clothes in various categories: what needed to be washed, and what needed to be donated. My sister had a lot of baskets on hand which made it easy to sort the laundry by person (my niece, my sister, and her boyfriend). When we finished sorting through everything, we carried all of those baskets to her laundry room. That way they would be ready to go for her to do this week.

I helped her vacuum her floors, as well. And I helped her put away my niece’s clothes, since she was able to do one load while I was there.

I am so happy that I was able to help her. She was able to donate a lot of her clothes, so that’s exciting. I’m sure someone will be able to use them and appreciate them more than my sister did.

Top Ten Tuesdays #13

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

The rules are simple: Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want. Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to The Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post.

This week is to honour America’s Thanksgiving, by expressing ten things we are thankful for. Even though I am a Canadian, and had already celebrated Thanksgiving last month, I figured I would write about what I am thankful grateful. It’s really beneficial to think and write about what you are thankful for.

This is in no particular order.

1. My family, and my boyfriend. Even though I wished I was able to see them more, but with the whole pandemic, we haven’t gotten together as much.

2. My friends. I don’t have many friends, which is okay, but for the few people I actually talk to, they’re awesome people. I wish I was able to hang out with them more.

3. Being able to help others. I love that feeling, being able to help brighten someone’s day.

4. My books. I love reading, and I am slowly reading more books from my bookshelves. I used to buy a whole bunch of books, and never actually get around to reading them. Which is why I have been spending more time reading them.

5. My tea collection. I enjoy making myself, and others a cup of tea, or even a latte (depending on which tea we’re having).

6. Sports. I love watching sports. My favourites are football, hockey, basketball, and baseball. I love reading about the players, the traditions, and superstitions. I love reading about the history of the team. I enjoy following stats about the players.

7. My room. I love my room. It has everything that I enjoy, my books, my tea, my mugs.

8. My laptop because I use it for my blogging.

9. My crockpot, because it allows me to make delicious soups, and pastas.

10. The ability to be comfortable with less – things, stress, debt. I am starting to understand the importance of feelings, and experiences, instead of being bombarded by all of these things.

I would love to see your list of things that you are grateful for.

Asking For Help

It is okay to ask for help. It isn’t something to be ashamed of nor is it something to embarrassed from. Everyone asks for help every now and again. Asking others for help is a way of growth and it helps you grow into a wiser person. When you learn something new you can share that to someone else and it will increase everyone’s knowledge.

When I was at work I knew that everyone was stressed about the holiday so I tried my best to answer customer’s questions. Although the problem was that I am still relevantly new so I am still learning.

I had learnt that this back fired when my manager that I messed a few times thus made customers get snappy at the cashiers.

After that incident I had to put my worries behind and ask for help.

Although I am not advising you to ask people to do everything for you. I’m suggesting that you try to solve it yourself using your knowledge and resources to solve it. If you are still stick then ask someone to assist you.

Today, whenever uncertainty arises and I have tried to sort the problem out myself and still was unable to come up with a solution I will ask for ask.

Sunburn Remedy

My Dad has severely burned his feet many many years ago. I asked him asking what I should do about my hideous sunburns.

His girlfriend suggested that I apply apple cider vinegar and then apply coconut oil. So far it is working. I have been applying it a lot.

Today I learnt that it is okay to ask for help for that is how we learn.
