Day 81

Hey everyone! I’m just trying to catch up with everything! I’ve missed everyone, and I hope that everyone is doing well.

Every day (or at least) I’m trying to get back into the habit of writing a lesson or something that I have learned and share my wisdom with everyone. I often feel like I have encountered a lot of wisdom from various people and experiences throughout my life.

This is from Monday March 22nd.

Something that I have learned, the hard way, may I add… Is that everything in life is only temporary. So if you are going through hard times today, don’t be so hard on yourself. It just means that things can only go up from here, and things won’t always be this way forever. And unfortunately, when things are going really well, enjoy it, because not everything can last forever. Alas this doesn’t just imply for the events in our lives, it also works for our loved ones. Lots of people will come and go throughout our lives. Whether they move away, or pass away, we must not take them for granted. Instead we should learn to cherish these moments shared with your family and friends.

Today, I will realize that everything in life is only temporary. So I shouldn’t get too angry or upset when I am going through hardships, because nothing lasts forever. And I must remember to pause and reflect on the good times, too, because alas, everything in life is temporary, and things can change on a dime. I should enjoy the good times, and learn from the bad times and the lessons they teach me.

Day 73

This lesson is from Sunday March 14th.

I became inspired from Melody Beattie about her meditation book called The Language of Letting Go. She writes a piece of advice, and affirmation every day of the year. I wanted to make my own, as well. I write about life lessons I have learned throughout the day, or throughout my life. I feel like I have a lot of wisdom to pass on to others. Mind you everyone has different opinions about everything else, so take what you like, and leave the rest. Mind you, you don’t have to do anything you don’t want during this journey. I am trying to work towards being more mindful, and present this year.

One of my favourite hobbies is writing, whether it’s writing my blogs, or writing short stories. It is something that I have always spent time doing. I also like to journal my feelings, and my goals, too. But something that I haven’t done in awhile is write someone a letter. I used to write my boyfriend a letter every so often, even though we live together, but it is nice to write someone a letter. I also liked writing to my cousin as well. But that was something we stopped not too long ago. That is something I hope her and I can continue.

Writing someone a letter, and let them that you miss them, or why you love them will instantly brighten their day. And knowing that you helped someone feel good about themselves, will make you feel happier, too. Writing also helps you clear your head, and help you pause and reflect on what truly matters. If you like to, you can save your letters for a scrap book, or to keep and treasure for later. And there are many other benefits to writing a letter to someone.

You can even write someone an email, too. Although you might not experience the same benefits by actually writing a letter by hand. Only because when you write a letter by hand, you have to put more thought into your writing, whereas with email, it is a bit easier since you can backspace, and rearrange certain sentences.

Today, I will try my best to write someone a letter to someone who is dear to me. I will express my appreciation and love that I have towards them. It is important that I remind my loved ones how much they mean to me.

Meditation

Every week, I talk about small ways we can boost our moods, with little to no effort. I became inspired when my second cousin was going through a slump, so I was giving her simple ideas to help boost her mood. I know at some point, we have gone through this slump trying to deal with the effects of the pandemic lockdowns.

I have been working on practicing meditation, and making it a part of my every day life. I feel like I have been able to focus better. Sometimes I felt like I have had some challenges trying to stay focus on somethings. Especially when the tasks takes me longer than it needs to complete. Which is really troubling, and sort of annoying that I had troubles focusing and getting stuff done. But I feel like that since I have been working and making meditations, I feel like I am able to get more things done. I feel like I am able to think more clearly. Meditation has a lot of other benefits, as well, such as helping you get a deeper sleep, helps release stress, and so many more.

Since this is a new practice for me, I have only been setting aside five, maybe ten minutes of meditation every day. I have been working on it, for almost two weeks now. I am definitely proud of myself for keeping up with this habit. I feel like it has been keeping me calm through my the situation with my Grandpa, since he is currently at the hospital.

The five minutes I have been setting aside for a meditation has been so easy, and the effects that it has on my body, mind, and soul have been game changer. I am so happy, and definitely encourage everyone to try meditating. There are so many videos on meditating on YouTube, which is a free service. If you are new to meditating, try looking for a beginner video to start out, and get comfortable with. You would be glad you did.

Day 19

I couldn’t really sleep the night before, so I decided it’s best to do something productive with my time. At the same I was always doing something to fall asleep, as well. I began reading some of my book, that helped a bit, but it still wasn’t enough. I began writing in my journal, because I thought maybe I was feeling a bit too stressed out about things. I started thinking about some writing ideas. After I released my thoughts, I just laid there, trying not to think about anything for a couple of minutes.

That didn’t work, so I put on my favourite show, Grey’s Anatomy. That is my comfort show, I must have watched it a million times already. And that seemed to do the trick.

Whenever I can’t fall asleep, I will try to do something productive with my time, instead of just laying there, tossing and turning in my bed. If that doesn’t work, I will try to resort into watching a show, or a movie to help me fall asleep. Or vow to myself to make an evening routine.

Relax

In this edition of Feel Good Friday, I am encouraging everyone to spend some time relaxing. It is important to schedule in some time throughout the week to unwind.

If it’s possible you should spend the last 15 to 20 minutes of your day dedicating time for you to relax. Whether it is you writing in a journal, reading, meditating, practicing yoga, etc. Being able to spend time forgetting about your stresses and worries, is so beneficial to your mind and body.

It is a good feeling to just not think about your stresses. Don’t complicate it, you can simply unwind by watching your show, having a bubble bath. Your mind and body will thank you for it.

If you don’t make the time to relax or unwind, your body will pick a time for you. Trust me, it is better for you to pick the time to relax instead of your body.

Self Care

Self care is extremely important, especially with how chaotic the world is right now. It’s okay to not be okay when the world isn’t okay. The vast majority of the world’s population haven’t lived in a pandemic before, so it’s okay to not always know what you need to do next.

But what you should always do is, learn to take care of yourself. It’s important to engage in healthy coping mechanisms like yoga, meditation, or other forms of exercises. Another tip is work on a plan on making sure you are getting enough sleep every night. Work on maintaining a healthy diet of vegetables and fruits.

But it’s also important to learn to take a rest, instead of quitting. Lets use this time of uncertainty to work together, and strengthen others, instead of bringing people down. It’s okay to ask for help. This pandemic is a hardship for everyone. Most importantly, make time to do things that make you happy.

October Preview

Okay, so I have thought of four simple goals that I want to work this month. I know there are many habits I want to obtain, but for now I will be focusing on three things to work on. By doing these four things, it will give momentum to add more goals and habits to my routine. The best part is that these are really small changes into my routine.

Goal Number One
I want to complete a Sudoku puzzle* every day. I remember wanting to do this for a long time now. My Grandparents used to do one every day, in hope that it would help my Grandma with her memory since she has Parkinson’s Disease, which then progressed into dementia. She is doing alright now, but my Grandpa thinks that she isn’t going to get any better, so her not getting any worse is good. I was inspired by Grandparents to complete this one goal. I finished my puzzle today.

*There are logical puzzles where you have to place numbers 1 through 9 in each row, column, and box, without duplicating any numbers. It tests your patience and logical, but it can really calming and relaxing, at least that’s how I feel.

Goal Number Two
I would like to add 20 minutes into my day being more spiritual by practicing meditation and yoga. Although I would start by doing 10 minutes of yoga, and hopefully 10 minutes of meditation (practicing meditation at the beginning can be challenging, but once you start practicing more frequently, you start improving). I’ll try this one later tonight.

Goal Number Three
Set at least 30 minutes reading every day. I have been this, but it hasn’t been every day. If I read every day it wasn’t for 30 minutes like I had hoped. By reading for 30 minutes I would be spending less time doing something else, like watching TV. This habit will help me keep my mind active.

Goal Number Four
This one is going to be challenging, but my boyfriend and I are only going to have take away twice this whole month. Not only will this help us by spending less money, but it ensure that we are eating healthier. This goal ripples into other aspects of my life, too. And I am willing to share with you my recipes, too.

I am quite happy with these goals. I’m going to be documenting my goals in a bullet journal.

My blog posts are going to remain the same, but I was thinking about writing more personal posts. In order to do that I may be getting rid of Eckhart Tolle Fridays to accommodate writing more personal posts. But if everything those posts may return at a later date.

What are your goals and anything you wish to accomplish this month?

Presence of Light

Every Friday I post an inspirational quote from Eckhart Tolle’s books. He is a spiritual teacher. He is an author who has published many books teaching and encouraging us to be more mindful. He has even appeared on Oprah Winfrey talk show.

“In this way, you grow in presence power. It generates an energy field in you and around you of a high vibrational frequency. Ni unconsciousness, no negativity, no discord or violence can enter that field and survive, just as darkness cannot survive in the presence of light.”

-Eckhart Tolle, Practicing the Power of Now

In this passage he talking about how us being more mindful can provide us with so many benefits. It can help remove darkness and uncertainty in our lives. When we begin to focus on ourselves and staying in the moment, that is when our lives will truly begin to change, for the better.

When our mindset begins to shift into the present, we tend to forgive our past and everything that has happened up until this point, and we learn not to be anxious about the future, we start to notice the small things in our lives. Like the smell of roses, the sounds of the birds, wind blowing through the leaves, the rain. I feel like once we start to observe the small things in life, it would help us have a calmer mindset, which will help us find the answers to our problems.

The Ocean – Weekly Quote

This is your weekly inspiration! This is to remind you that no matter what happens this week, we have the ability to calm ourselves down.

Just keep breathing, and realize that you have a purpose, so you just got to keep on fighting and remain strong.
