Minimalist Game Day 21

The rules are simple, you get rid of things from your life, either by selling them, throwing them away, or donating them. On the first day, you remove one item, and then on the second day, you remove two items, you keep on playing until it’s the end of the month, or whenever you run out of things to remove from your life. It is okay if you can’t make it until the end of the month. Personally, I would rather see items get donated, or sold to someone else. If you must throw something away, I hope it’s because it isn’t fixable. Even if you have removed three items from your life, you should still be proud of that, because it is three more things you removed before the challenge. But if you are able to complete this challenge, you would have gotten rid of almost 500 items! That’s a lot of stuff.

This is from Sunday March 21st.

Ten old and expired body lotions.
Empty tea tins.

1 colouring book for my niece’s birthday

But if you are able to complete this challenge, you would have gotten rid of almost 500 items! That’s a lot of stuff.

This is from March the 18th.

This is an old hair product that my mom gave me so long ago. The next item is expired hand cream that I have had for a few years. The third item is an old lip gloss from several years ago. The fourth item is expired hand cream that I was given as a gift, but it was from a long time ago, so it’s best to let that go. And the last item is this container my mom gave me some snacks in, but she didn’t need it back, so I just recycled it.
The top item is an envelope I no longer need anymore. I just recycle them. On the left is a notebook, I used to write in from time to time. I’m going to recycle the pages I wrote on, and give whatever is left to my cousin. On the right is a dream journal that I plan on giving to my cousin as well.
My two old phones from back in the day. I accidentally dropped my phone, so that explains the huge cracks on the phone. I am taking to get them recycled at one of this electronic recycling drop offs.
I bought this shirt because at the time I was going through my shopping phase of my life. I loved shopping. And now I am grateful that I don’t have the desire to do much shopping, at least for clothes anymore.
I bought this shirt, because I wanted to have more dressy shirts, and dress nicer. Unfortunately this shirt doesn’t fits me since I grew a little bit, and no longer touches the top of my pants.
This used to be my favourite scrunchie, but sadly, it became a headband. It somehow came undone, and I don’t know how to put it back to the way it used to be.
More expired lip products. One is a lip balm, and the other is a lipstick.
Unfortunately I grew a little bit, so it no longer is long enough for my liking. I just know that I will get my niece into liking Harry Potter, so I am going to sit it aside for her to wear, when she is older.
More body spray. Apparently this is people’s go to present for me, that and lip balm. Which is unfortunate because I have asked for people not to get me these items. So I plan on giving this to my cousin. She might like it.
This is a Kleenex box holder. I guess they were the big rave in the 90s and early 2000s. My Grandma gave me this many years ago, but I just don’t find much use to it.

Thankful Thursdays #38 – March 18th, 2021

This is one of my favourite posts to write about. I love expressing gratitude, and sharing with everyone what I am thankful for throughout my life.

I would love to hear what everyone is thankful for, as well.

  1. I am thankful that I was able to say goodbye to my Papa, before he had passed away, and during his funeral. I know in most countries that people weren’t able to have a funeral because of Covid-19 protocols. My sister and I talked to my uncle who was visiting his Dad, and we talked to him via FaceTime. It wasn’t how I had wished to say goodbye to him, but I am thankful that I was able to say goodbye to him. I was able to thank my Grandpa for all of the memories, and love he gave to me.
  2. As I looked back I realize how lucky I was to have all of these years with my Grandpa. I know a lot of people from my school, and others growing up with, they didn’t get to have as many years as I did with my Grandpa.
  3. My family and I haven’t been able to see each other since Christmas of 2019, but we able to see each other from a distance during the funeral. That was bittersweet.
  4. When I was with my niece the other day, she was listening to music, and one them had said, “I love you”, and I heard her say that to me for the first time. She even looked away from her iPad, and said that to my face. So precious!
  5. I am thankful that I am able to find comfort of the loss with my books. I had a bit of a reading slump for a little while.

Just Checking In

Hi everyone!

For the sake of my Happiness Project, I ended up changing the date of my publication date on my previous blog posts. That way all of March Happiness Project’s resolutions and goals can be found in March, and not scattered through March, April and May. Thank you again for your patience and understanding.

I apologize for being so busy these past two months. I’m not sure if you have heard, but my Grandpa passed away two months ago. It has been the most challenging, and heartbreaking past few weeks. I feel like I’ve been going through a lot. He was the closest person I have ever lost. He was my best friend.

I have been trying to get all caught up with everything on here. But at the same time it feels like everyone wants my attention, and needs my help. I know I should put myself first, and my desires first. But at the same time, I always struggle to say no. But I do all of these things for my niece’s sake, and her benefit.

There are days where my sister and her boyfriend need me to watch my niece. And some days, I feel like drained by my other obligations, but I say yes, so I can see my niece, and spend time with her.

I am slowly starting to work towards things I want to do for myself, and things that would make me happy. I guess I just feel drained because there is so many things I want to do, and work towards, but I have falling a bit behind. I am now finding down time to get things done.

I made a list of some of the things that I need and want to get done. This has been so helpful, because I don’t have to get a mental note out of everything that I would like to get done. And now that I have a better visual of what needs to get done. I can see how to spend my time more wisely. This will help me stay motivated and on track of achieving everything I set out for myself.

I can’t wait to get all caught up again. I appreciate the love and support from everyone. Please continue to send me positive messages, and support. My goal is get caught up with things by June, if I can. I am determined to work through a lot on my To-Do List. I can’t wait to hear from all of you again. ❤

Minimalist Game Day 13

The rules are simple, you get rid of things from your life, either by selling them, throwing them away, or donating them. If you are participating, I would love to know what you are parting with, feel free to let me know in the comments. This is such a fun way to welcome Spring cleaning.

This is from Saturday March 13th.

In the first photo, I am giving away…

  • Eight tins of tea, two of them I gave to my sister, so she can fill them up for part of her daughter, and step son’s surprise for Easter.
  • A dancing flower, it dances when it has sun shining on it. I think my niece will get a kick out of that.
  • A pumpkin for my cousin, she loves Halloween. I don’t have any purpose for it anymore.
  • A candle that got recycled
  • This light up butterfly that I will ask my cousin if she wants to have this, too. I kind of grow out of it.
  • A pair of socks that I don’t wear.

Is anyone decluttering their belongings right now for Spring cleaning? I would love to know about your journey, and if you need any help.

Day 68

This lesson is from Tuesday March 9th.

I was at my sister’s house for the day, watching my niece. With so many people’s birthdays approaching, I thought it would be fun for my niece and myself to make some crafts for everyone! It was my niece’s Grandma’s birthday, then it was my sister’s birthday, and then a family friend’s birthday.

I traced my niece’s hands and made them into various things. For her Grandma, we made each of her hands into flowers. And then for my sister, we made them into elephants. And for our family friend we just traced her hands. And we added a cute quote. Everyone loved her work of art!

During that time my Grandpa was in the hospital, which made me feel really sad. But helping my niece with her presents to everyone, that cheered me up a bit. It was a nice distraction.

Today, I will try to do something that allows me to give back to others, whether it’s through crafts, or giving someone my time, it would help me distract myself from my own feelings of despair. Sometimes b giving something to others, we are able to forget our own feelings for a bit. Maybe by helping others, or just being there, we are able to cheer ourselves up, too.

Thankful Thursdays #36 – March 4th, 2021

This is one of my favourite posts, because I get to talk about what I am thankful for the past week. It is always a good and fun way to end the day, or week with a grateful heart. I would love to hear about yours in the comments.

There are so many benefits of practicing gratitude, so you have never to lose by practicing it. Some of the benefits of gratitude, is you sleep better, and easier, you help lower your stress levels, so it might even be harder for you to feel stress. You also increase your immune system, which helps you decrease your chances of getting sick.

Here is my list from last week…

  1. I am thankful that we got to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. He loved his present, and that I made him brunch, and dinner for us.
  2. I am grateful for being able to go through all of belongings from my old room.
  3. I am thankful that I am starting to declutter again, it really helps me reorganize, and make more room for the things I enjoy.
  4. I am happy that I was able to spend some time with my sister while I was babysitting my niece. Normally she works all day, and then by the time she is done work, it’s dinner, and then my niece goes to bed, and then my sister gets ready for bed, shortly afterwards. But on Tuesday we were able to hang out, and take my niece out to the park, and for a walk. It was a lot of fun.
  5. I am grateful for being able to allocate our finances to pay down our debts. I am really happy that we are on the right path to be debt free. It’s going to take us a little while, but we have spent some time working on what to pay off next. Which is really exciting.

Thankful Thursday #35 – February 25th, 2021

Hey everyone! I have so much to be thankful for this week.

This is one of my favourite posts that I get to write. Each week I write about all that I was thankful throughout the week. I would love to hear your list.

  1. I am thankful for my mother inviting me over for dinner on Wednesday, it was a nice treat. I haven’t seen my Grandparents in awhile, so I was happy to spend time with them.
  2. When I babysat my niece last Tuesday, my sister helped my niece make something for me for Valentine’s Day. I was so grateful for that. It’s a picture that she coloured. It’s so cute! My sister bought me chocolates.
  3. I am grateful that I started getting into a stricter routine of yoga. I made a promise to myself that I couldn’t go to bed to bed, until I logged in some minutes of yoga. I learned that it is okay to skip one day, but once you skip two days in a row, it makes getting back into the routine so much harder.
  4. I am thankful that my boyfriend and I started playing a new game on his phone that has been a lot of fun. It gives us something more to bond over.
  5. I am grateful that my boyfriend and I spent a lot of time together. His hours were effected because of the pandemic, so he was home a little more than usual. And that’s okay. But it made us more appreciative for the things we have already.

Day 54

This lesson is from Tuesday.

I help my sister out by babysitting my niece because my sister, and boyfriend work on throughout the week. My niece is almost two years old. Even though it’s winter where we live, I try to take her outside for some fresh air. I just make sure she is all bundled up to go outside. She has a good time. We usually go sledding, or I just take her to the park, and watch her play. I push her in the swings. She seems to have a lot of fun outside.

I like to take her outside right before her nap. Well I let her have to something to eat before her nap. But I like to think that her being out before her nap, helps her feel tired for her nap, which gives her a deeper sleep.

It is also important for us, even as adults to go outside, and get some fresh air. Even if we only have five minutes to spare. Bonus if you go out while the sun is out. Going outside helps relaxes us, too. I’ve been getting outside by taking a walk in my neighbourhood, or by walking to the library.

Today, I will make an effort that ensures I get some form of fresh air every day. Whether it to take a walk, or to just have a cup of coffee or tea on the patio, or balcony or front porch. Don’t let the cold weather stop you from enjoying the benefits of being outside. Always bundle up, and watch out for any ice, if there is any.

Day 47

So my original plan was to babysit my niece since my sister works today. But my sister’s boyfriend checked on the road conditions, and realized that they were bad. He made the executive decision to stay home from work, since it snowed a lot overnight! I wasn’t needed to babysit my niece since she was going to spend the day with her dad today. My boyfriend also had the day off, too.

So we got to spend an extra day together, since he was off yesterday, as well. I was so excited! We got to relax today, we watched Tarzan, I haven’t seen that movie in so long. And I swept, and washed the floor, since I don’t normally get to do it today. So that was a good feeling to get that done. It was a great day to relax, and make time for getting small errands done around the house, too. I also got to make some time to read some books. I love snow days.

Today, I will use days off, or snow days, depending on where you live, as a day for fun, but also for a day that I can accomplish my chores, and errands around the house. It is important to dedicate some time for chores, but it’s also important to spend time having fun as a reward.
