Minimalist Game Day 17

The rules are simple, you get rid of things from your life, either by selling them, throwing them away, or donating them. On the first day, you remove one item, and then on the second day, you remove two items, you keep on playing until it’s the end of the month, or whenever you run out of things to remove from your life. It is okay if you can’t make it until the end of the month. Personally, I would rather see items get donated, or sold to someone else. If you must throw something away, I hope it’s because it isn’t fixable. Even if you have removed three items from your life, you should still be proud of that, because it is three more things you removed before the challenge. But if you are able to complete this challenge, you would have gotten rid of almost 500 items! That’s a lot of stuff.

If you are participating, I would love to know what you are parting with, feel free to let me know in the comments. This is such a fun way to welcome Spring cleaning.

This is from Wednesday March 17th.

Expired lip care (lip balms and lip sticks).
A photo album, and a notebook. I plan on giving them to my cousin.
A Christmas present from my Dad. He bought me a box of cookies.

I had parted ways with a lot of clothes that I haven’t worn in a really long time. It is best for me to pass them on to someone who will enjoy these items than I ever did. I like to give them to my Grandma, because she knows a lot of people and neighbours that always need clothes. I feel fortunate enough to be able to help others.

Day 165 of 192

Hey everyone!

I am so grateful for all of the people I have helped throughout this difficult year. I hope if you have some things laying around your house, that you no longer use or wear, that you donate it to the people who are in need.

In this container I found this notebook that my Grandparents gave, but I already have a ton of journals already. So I’m just going to this aside for my niece. I think she would like it.

Day 110 of 192

I have set up my daily decluttering journey. This is where I document about removing one item from my life. The items I am removing from my life will benefit someone else who can use it instead of just sitting around in my room collecting dust.

I first started this project on Monday, June 22nd, of this year. I picked 193 days, because that is how many days were of 2020. This way I will be ringing in 2021 with 193 fewer items. It’s not too late for you to start this journey.

I also focus on my digital declutter by spending about 10 minutes a day. I go through my photos and organize them into albums, and deleting duplicates and any other photos I no longer need.

I encourage others to donate clothes so we can help others who don’t have the things we do to keep us warm. Or just donate anything else you no longer wear to a friend or a family member. A cool idea is organizing a clothes swap in your intermediate circle, where you can bring all of the things you no longer wear or use and have everyone do the same. Once everyone has their items you can just swap what you like and no longer use anymore. That way you can do an exchange with others. Whatever is left over you can donate it if any donation centres are open in your area. This helps with spending less money at shopping malls, and it’s a fun way to get rid of your stuff, too.

I normally just put everything in a reusable bag and hand it off to my Grandma. She is really sociable so she knows which of her neighbours and friends needs each of these items.

This item is from Saturday.

It’s a notebook that I had kept, thinking I would use it one day, but I never did. I had this notebook for several years, so I feel like it would be better with someone else.

Doing Something Special

I always love showing people that I care about them. My favourite person is boyfriend. Whenever I come up for breakfast, he would leave for work before I do so I get to make the bed and write him a note. I place it on his pillow but this time I hid it in his sweater pocket.

I’m surprised how fast he found his note. It was after I gave him a hint of course. He loves my notes and carefully stores them in his notebook. I love that he loves my letters.

Today I will do something small things for someone I care about. For it is the small things that take up the big spots in your heart. ❤
