This week is about characters’ jobs you wish you could have. Mind you I mostly have been reading a lot of self help books, and I guess a lot of books I read have been Young Adults, so they didn’t have any jobs, yet.

I think it would be interesting to solve crimes. I watch a lot of crime dramas, and I enjoy solving and trying to figure why they’ve committed these crimes. I find it interesting, and I know that it’s totally different in real life.

This week is all about books that were written before I was born. I was born in 1994, so I actually own a lot of books that were written before me entering the world. I would love to see what kinds of books were written before you were born.
Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, 1865
The famous story about a young girl named Alice who falls down a rabbit hole, and all of her adventures. I have been wanting to read these books for so slow. This book contains Alice in Wonderland, and Alice Through The Looking Glass, among other tales as well.
2. Gray’s Anatomy by Henry Gray, 1858
A medical textbook, which is still used today. It is about the anatomy of the human body. I really enjoy reading it. Fun fact, the famous Grey’s Anatomy TV show, got its name from this book. I bought this book because I thought I wanted to be a nurse, but I later changed my mind.
3. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, 1925
This story was inspired by Fitzgerald’s romance to a socialite, and the parties he attended in 1922. The story follows Jay Gatsby and his love interest to Daisy.
4. Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder, 1932
I was first introduced to these books because my mom used to read these books growing up. She ended up buying me these books for my 13th birthday. I was so excited. Her and I started reading them, but unfortunately our lives have gotten too busy to continue to read them. But maybe her and I can make some time later on to finish them.
5. Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White, 1952
The heart felt story about friendship, love, and death. I loved this book so much, I read it in the seventh grade, and I remember begging my Mama to buy me this book, and the movie for Christmas, and she did. I remember watching the movie over and over again. I can’t wait to buy this book for my niece.
6. A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett, 1905
This is a sad story about how a little girl losing her mother, and her father goes to serve in the British Army. Her father sends his daughter, Sara to a boarding school in London. He gives the Headmistress extra money so she can have own room. Despite her fortunes, she is genuine, and sincere. She becomes friends with another girl, and the errand girl. It tells the tale of Sara Crowe. My sister and I used to always rent this movie from the video store, all the time, that and Matilda. But I have not read this book, yet. There is a movie based on this novel. Frances Hodgson Burnett also wrote The Secret Garden.
7. Matilda by Roald Dahl, 1988
Matilda is a girl who loves to read, and has an amazing imagination. The problem is that she is a lot different from her family members. They love watching TV, and they hate reading. Matilda soon discovers that she has magical powers. I loved watching the movie with my sister, but I haven’t read the book, yet. I can’t wait to read it.
8. Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery, 1908
Anne is an orphan, and she was sent to a pair of siblings, who were looking to adapt a boy, so he can help them run the farm at the Green Gables. But the adoption agency made a mistake and sent them Anne instead. The story tells the adventures of Anne has at the Green Gables. I plan on reading this book this year.
9. James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl, 1961
It is about an orphan boy who enters a magical peach, where he meets seven garden bugs. This was one of my sister’s favourite story, but I have never read it, or seen the movie. I can’t wait to read this book and watch the movie. Dahl wrote this story for his daughter, Olivia, who passed away a year later after it was published.
10. The Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, 1991
I am currently borrowing this book from the library, so I haven’t gotten to it yet. It is about a girl named Claire who is celebrating her second honeymoon with her husband after World War II, but she suddenly becomes an “Outlander”, when she is magically transported into 1743. I want to read the books, so I can watch the show on Netflix. I always prefer to read the books, before I watch the movie, or show.

Snow Day: What’s your comfort book?
I like this book because it deals with love, travelling and food.

This book is all about Hygge, which is everything cozy, and warm. Things that are Hygge are candles, warm blankets, and cozy socks.

I read this as a kid with my mom. I love reading these books with her.
5. Sledding: What’s a book with the best plot twists? Who’s an author that always keeps you on your toes?

All of the Harry Potter books
I really wish I had my collection with these covers, but that’s okay.
I would love re-reading them from time to time. I feel like they become more magical every time I re-read them.
2. Eat Pray Love
I loved the book, and the movie. I enjoy re-living the first time I experienced this book and movie.
3. The BFG
My boyfriend and I read this book together a few years ago. We thought it was really good.
4. To Kill A Mockingbird
I fell in love with this book when I read it in the tenth grade.
5. Charlotte’s Web
I first read this book in grade seven, I thought it was a touching and a heartfelt book. I can’t wait to re-read it. It’s a beautiful story about friendship.
6. The Year of Yes
I enjoyed this book, I thought it was a smart and funny book. It inspires me to be a better person.
7. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
I remember these books in high school, after watching the movies, years prior. I loved these stories so much.
8. Gone Girl
This book was a lot of fun to read. I wish I had read the book, before I saw the movie. It was still a good book. I probably wouldn’t read it again, or at least not for awhile. But I wish I was able not to know the ending, so I can read it without knowing what was going to happen.
9. Turn of the Key
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a thriller, so I wouldn’t be reading this since I already know the mystery. But I wish I can travel back in time, to be able to read it all over again. This book wanted me to read other Ruth Ware’s books. I enjoyed her writing.
10. The Couple Next Door
I borrowed this book from my Grandma, and it was a really good book. I wish I was able to go back in time to write the book for the first time, and not be able to see that twist happen. It was well done.

This week’s topic is Characters I’d Name a Pet After. But I’m not a big pet person, please don’t hate me! But I’m just not a big believer of having any. I grew up with a dog that my parents had before I was born. After he died, my sister wanted to her own dog, but my dad recommended that she tries to look after gold fish first. Unfortunately those fish died very quickly. Once my sister thought that if she feed the fish a lot one day, she wouldn’t need to feed them the next day. But she learned the hard way, that wasn’t healthy for the fish to overeat.
So, I put my own spin on this, and changed it to Characters I Would Name a Child After. Even though I don’t really want children either.
10. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
Harry Potter’s mother name was named Lily Potter (nee Evans), and I have always loved that name, and I would love to name my daughter that. My great aunt was named Lillian, and she holds a special place in my heart. I would name daughter Lily because in the book, she belonged to the Gryffindor House, which symbolizes bravery, courage and determination. She loved her son very much, and tried to do everything she could do to protect him from danger.
Another reason why I like the name Lily so much is it means pure, passion, and rebirth.
I realized that I didn’t have a lot of boy names, so I thought about it. I thought that I would like my son to have Albus as his middle name. It means white in Latin. But in the book, Albus, who is the Headmaster of Hogwarts demonstrated leadership throughout the series.
9. Time Traveler’s Wife
I haven’t read this book yet, but I loved the movie, so I am really excited to read this one. But in the movie, I loved Clare a lot. I can tell she has morals, and good manners. She comes across as a girl who has a very traditional lady, which I admire.
I also like the name Henry, too. It means ruler, and it is quite a royal name.
8. The Notebook
Sorry this book was a bit hard to photograph because of the material of the book cover.
In this book I really liked the name Allie, which in the book is short for Alison. She finds her true love, and they make it work for many decades. That is what I would hope my daughter finds. And today is Rachel McAdams birthday today.
7. Anne of Green Gables
I haven’t read this book yet either, but it is on my To Be Read List. I have always liked the name Anne as a middle name. If I name my daughter’s middle name Anne, she would have half of my name, which is Julianne, so that would be a cute tribute. The book is about her struggles of one foster care to another, and having to take care of younger children. Until she finally gets taken care of Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert. She must have developed a lot of strength to overcome those foster homes.
6. The Longest Ride
I also liked the name Ruth, when I started reading this book. I think it’s the perfect middle name. I liked that it was old fashioned, but elegant at the same time. I don’t want to say much about this book, but it is really sad. It’s one of my favourite Nicholas Sparks’ book. It is making me want to watch the movie again.
5. To Kill a Mockingbird
I loved this book so much! I would totally give my son the middle name of Atticus. To me, Atticus symbolizes morality and heroism. He provides his children with a lot of wisdom throughout the novel. He is an attorney, and can see the good in others. I just love his character a lot. I also like the name Harper, as well. It would be a cool middle name, too.
4. Safe Haven
I loved this book, as well. The name that I loved the most was Katie. I have always liked the name Katie. In this novel, Katie has demonstrated strength, and bravery, which is ironic because those are the traits of belonging to the Gryffindor house. I don’t want to say much about the book, because I don’t want to spoil it. But I would recommend it.
3. Alice in Wonderland
I love Alice, she is one of my favourite Disney characters. I love how imaginative she is. She is very curious, and loves to explore things to find out. She prefers books with pictures in them, instead of a book that just has words in it. Alice is Old German for noble.
2. The BFG
I have adored the name Sophie. She is a little girl who is in a Orphanage when the Big Friendly Giant takes her on an adventure in the middle of the night. She also is brave, and kind-hearted. Dahl’s first granddaughter is named Sophie.
Charlotte’s Web
I first read this book in the seventh grade, which was about 14 years ago. I remember bagging my mama to buy me the book and DVD box set, which she did. I just loved it so much. Which probably explains why I love the name Charlotte. She has shown a lot of heroism throughout the novel.

The One: A book with an ending that left you speechless The Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks. I don’t want to say anything to spoil it, but just whoa! I loved the movie, too.
Cardigan: A book that makes you feel happy and sad all at once Pretty much anything Nicholas Sparks. I love his books and movies. I remember being very obsessed with his work in high school. The first movie I had seen of his was A Walk to Remember, and the first book I read of his was The Longest Ride.
The Last Great American Dynasty: A book with a fascinating and extremely well-told story The Harry Potter series. I loved it, it was extremely well thought out, and magical.
Exile: A book you wish you hadn’t read Hm… I’m drawing a blank with this one, because I can’t think of a book I didn’t wish I had read. Maybe a school text book of a subject I didn’t have an interest for.
My Tears Ricochet: A book that made you cry uncontrollably When I was in middle school, the book that made me cry uncontrollably was, and still does is Charlotte’s Web. And now when I was older, I would say Go Ask Alice. It was written anonymously as journal entries about a girl goes to a party and how she got addicted to LSD. It’s really sad, but I read it because it was my friend’s favourite book.
Mirror Ball: A book that feels like it was written just for you I feel like the book, Year of Yes was written for me. I’m a huge Grey’s Anatomy fan. And the book is about encouraging us to be more confident with yourself. It seemed like the perfect book for me to remind me to be more confident with myself.
Seven: A childhood book that makes you feel nostalgic Matilda and the Little House on the Prairies series. When my sister and I were young, our Dad took us to the video store, and we always picked out Matilda and we watched it over and over again. I finally read that book a few years ago, and it was absolutely amazing. My mom and I used to read to Little House on the Prairies when I was in grade school. That was a lot of fun. Although her and I never finished it, because life happened and we got too busy to keep on reading them. So I’m going to read them on my own. My mom used to read these books when she was growing up, too.
August: A book that reminds you of summer Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants. I saw this movie for the first time with my sister and her two closest friends at the time. It was a great film. It wasn’t until years later that I read the books. I adored the books so much. It’s about four best friends who are best friends throughout their whole lives, and have never spent an entire summer apart until they were in high school. They went shopping at this thrift shop, and came across these pair of jeans. Despite their different body types, Bridget being taller than her friends, the pair of pants magically fits all of the girls. They decide to wear the pair of jeans throughout the summer, and mail them to each other, documenting the special moments that had happened to them.
This is me Trying: A book that deals with loneliness and sadness The first book that came to came to mind was In Search of April Raintree. It’s about two sisters whose parents are alcoholics and they end up getting put into foster care. Although the sisters get separated and one gets put in a better foster care and the other sister doesn’t have much of a better life than when she was when she was with her parents. It always makes me sad.
Invisible String: A book that came into your life at the exact right time You are a Badass by Jen Sincero. I absolutely loved reading this book. At the time I was having a challenging time with myself. I kept on doubting myself and selling myself short on things. But after reading it I appreciated and loved myself more.
Mad Woman: A book with a female character you adore Scout from To Kill a Mockingbird. I admire everything about her. She is an extremely strong willed kind of girl.
Epiphany: A book that is haunting The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware, read this book really fast since it was so good. It started off a bit slow, but near the middle, it gave me goose pimples. It was a really good book. I would recommend this book who is looking for a good scare.
Betty: A book that fills you with yearning Ron and Hermione. I absolutely love them! I loved Ron’s lack of passion for school and studying and how it is oversets Hermione’s passion for school. To me, they have a lot of opposites, and I guess that is something I used to look for in a guy, too.
Peace: A book character you’d die for because you love them so much! Carmen from The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants. I love her character and how much growth she goes through throughout the series. I can relate to her because she was the writer of her group of friends, and her parents get divorced. And I was able to relate to what she goes through.
Hoax: A book that you thought you were going to love but didn’t I can’t seem to think of a book that I haven’t liked. I guess I have a knack of picking out good books.

This one was a lot of fun! I love these ideas. I posted a lot of authors that has impacted in some way. My early childhood memories (and my mid 20s) is filled with Roald Dahl’s books and movies. As well as J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series and movies. My early high school days I read a lot of Nicholas Sparks books and watched a lot of movies. I enjoy the life lessons that are in each of his books. I was in grade 10 when I first read To Kill a Mockingbird. I still read that book from time to time. I have always loved Eat, Pray, Love and Wild. I enjoy the woman’s journey of finding themselves.
I enjoy reading and all of the things they have to offer the universe. I make it a habit to read everyday. 🙂

This week’s theme is Books for My Younger Self, (These could be books you wish you had read as a child, books younger you could have really learned something from, books that meshed with your hobbies/interests, books that could have helped you go through events/changes in your life, etc.)
A Wrinkle In Time
I read this book for the first time, two years ago. I had wished I had read it years ago. It’s about a group of neighbourhood kids that band together by travelling through space and time to save the world from unprecedented times. My boyfriend and I read this book together and we watched the movie together, too.
2. A Little Princess
My sister and I watched this movie all the time, but we never read the book together. Although this is on my To Be Read List. The movie taught me the true value of family and friendship.
3. Matilda
I had wished my sister and I had read this book together, but we watched the movie, like a million times. But I hope we have the chance to enjoy this book together with my niece. I wished I had read this book when I was younger. But the movie has taught me valuable lessons of friendship and how it’s okay to be different from your family. It also showed me and inspired me the importance of being a book worm.
4. The BFG
BFG is short for Big Friendly Giant. I wished I had read this book when I was young, too. I read this a few years back with my boyfriend, and we really enjoyed it.
5. Charlotte’s Web
I read this book when I was in grade seven. I loved it so much. I had asked my mom to buy me the DVD and the book for a Christmas present. I loved this book because of how it reminds me about friendship and hard work.
6. You Are A Badass
I wish I read this book many years ago, because it talks about acknowledging how awesome you are, and how you shouldn’t doubt yourself. There were times throughout my life where I have doubted myself, forgetting how awesome I truly am.
7. You Are A Badass At Making Money
I wished I had read this book in middle school, because then I could have had a better understanding of money and how it works. I would have saved up more money throughout my life.
8. 101 Simple Truths For A Better Life
This has been one of my favourite books that I have read in the past two years, or so. What I love about it was how simple it is. The advice is what everyone needs to hear.
9. The Ripple Effect
I first read this book a few weeks before I was going to college. I wanted to be prepared because it taught me how by changing just one of these habits, it will spill over into the other areas of my life. I just wished this book was available sooner.
10. Little House in the Big Woods
I enjoyed reading this series with my mom. It made me really appreciate the hardships that my grandparents and great grandparents had to go through. This book also makes me appreciate the simpler things in my life. It reminds me that by working together, you can accomplish so much.

This blogger would assign a new list every week. Although she does say that it is okay to not have a list of 10, if you can’t find 10 books. This week’s theme is books that make you hungry. It could have food on the cover, have food in the title, have some recipes, or mention food in the book.
So, without further ado, here is my list…
10. Cooking Up A Business
I originally bought this with the intention of perhaps wanting to open our restaurant one day, but our goals have changed over the years. And the way things are going, it’s almost like the restaurant service/industry is almost a dying business.
9. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
I enjoy reading this book, because I love drinking tea, and hosting tea parties. This book makes me hungry of their tea parties, and how she eats a magical cake to make herself grow.
8. James and the Giant Peach
This was my sister’s favourite Roald Dahl’s favourite, so growing up this was also my favourite book, too. I always had to be like my sister. But now that I have explored into my own self. I actually really enjoy BFG (Big Friendly Giant), and Matilda.
7. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
I absolutely loved this book growing up, too. I also love chocolate, who doesn’t?!
6. The Chef
I got this book for my boyfriend. He really enjoyed it. It’s all revovles around a food truck owner. And there’s even recipes included from the food truck menu. It’s mostly Mardi Gras food, so that would be fun to make one day.
5. Eat Pray Love
This book always makes me hungry. She travels to Italy, so she consumes a lot of pasta, and they even have gelato (ice cream) for breakfast. I can empathize with her because she mentions how she has been gaining weight since she first traveled out there.
4. CRAVE!
I enjoy buying and using cooking books. I bought this one because it’s all about comfort food. I love making comfort foods, it is one of the best things to make.
3. Desserts
Because stressed spelt backwards is desserts. I enjoy baking, too. I love making chocolate chip cookies, and I would love to master brownies.
2. Potatoes
I love making potatoes because there are so many different ways to cook and bake them. The possibilities are endless.
Soups
My favourite thing to cook is soups. I am so happy that soup season is upon us. I’m going to try various soups this season.
