What is New With Me?

Firstly, hey everyone! I hate that it has been so long since my last post! But I hope that everyone is well. This year has been difficult. I’ve been feeling down most days. I’ve been feeling sad because of the losses I have encountered this year, so that’s been a bit challenging trying to find the positives in things as of now.

I’ve been working two jobs, which can be tiring, but it has also been rewarding, too. Since I am always working a lot, I end up not having as much time to myself as I would like to have. I do miss having more time to cook some of my delicious meals. So I try to make sure that I budget my time wisely to ensure I get things done and that I can make time for fun. I’ve also been able to try out new restaurants, and making time for people. I’ve also been getting my nails done, which has been a lot of fun! I do enjoy having an active social life.

And during the transition of starting my two jobs, my Grandma passed away. I was really upset about it, because my Grandma helped shaped me into the person that I am today. She has taught me so much, like how to be polite and the importance about using my manners. She passed down her love for cooking and baking to me. Although I feel like I have lost her even before she passed away, because she was sick for throughout a good portion of my life. So I was slowly watching her lose who she was piece by piece. But I am able to find comfort in the fact that she is now reunited with my Grandpa in Heaven.

I have recently reconnected with a friend last year, but it just been feeling like there has been a lot of space between us as of lately. So that can be lonely somedays, and can make me feel a bit sad. I think about my friend from time to time, always sending them good vibes. But this friend does bring me a lot of happiness, so I am glad that we got to reconnect. I think the last time I saw was about eight years ago, or so. We still talked during those times. I’m glad that we are apart of each other’s lives again!

Throughout the year I have been blessed to reconnect and talk to people I haven’t spoken to for a little while, which has been so much fun catching up with everyone. I am thankful for the people who have been by my side no matter what has happened between us.

I am hoping that this year can end on a positive note. This year and the year prior has been difficult for me. I still plan on achieving my goals that I have put in place for myself. I want to go back to school, but I am still figuring what I want to pursue, which for some reason has been challenging, because I can envision myself doing many different jobs.

But I also have some other goals that aren’t job focused per se, such as making more time for reading, and blogging, saving up money, and going through my belongings and the things I own. In hope that I can remove some of the excess stuff that I no longer need. I also want to work on saving up so I can travel! I miss being able to write my own stories. I have written some short stories on here before. I will probably edit them and make them better. But if you are interested in reading these stories. https://yellowdaisies3.wordpress.com/category/writing-wednesdays/

I actually want to start a book club, where hopefully a few people on here will be interested in joining me talk about the book of the month. I have never really been a part of a book club, but I have always wanted to partake in them. I have read a few books from the Oprah Winfrey’s Book Club, and Reese’s Book Club. But I unfortunately haven’t been able to interact with everyone else who has read the books.

I cannot wait to be able to make these goals and dreams happen for me! I hope that the end of this year can lead into a happy and adventurous 2023! I am so beyond happy for myself!

I will be talking more about my Book Club which I have worked out the details of the book I have selected and think of some discussion questions. I am so excited! This is my first time hosting a Book Club, so I do need a bit of research first. Stay tuned!

I would love to know how everyone has been over this year! I would love to catch up with all of you! Please comment and I’ll reach out to everyone. It can be anything from your biggest struggle, a triumph, something that you accomplished, or something you wish to accomplish, or anything you wish to talk about. I would love to reconnect with my followers!

With Love,
Three Yellow Daisies xo

Day 191 of 192

This item is from Wednesday.

I bought this book at a school book fair. I used to love those so much. I bought a lot of cool books from those school book fairs.

I still love the Magic School Bus, but I think my niece will like this book. I can’t wait for her to start watching all of the classics from when her mom and myself were younger. My sister and I loved Princess Diaries, Matilda, and Recess as well as other classics like that.

I am trying to give my niece a lot of books, because I think it is important for her to have a big library. I can tell that she is really going to like reading a lot of books.

Day 184 of 192

I was so happy when I found this shirt again, because I haven’t seen it in awhile. Since I used to wear it in high school, it no longer fits me.

I loved that it had the different animal print over each word, and I love these words a lot.

Unimaginable Treasure Chapter One

Here it is, the first chapter of my new story. It’s called Unimaginable Treasure. Please know, that I will never judge anyone from holding on certain things. So there’s no need to feel embarrassed about it. We are all humans, doing our best. I am not one to judge or express shame among anyone. I hope you like it. Please feel free to provide me with any feedback. I will be posting a chapter every Wednesday.

Chapter One

It was a chilly Friday afternoon in late September. The leaves began changing their colours, and some trees were completely bare, whereas other trees still had the majority of their leaves. Lisa had just got home from school a half hour ago. She was worried about her friend, Sophie who wasn’t at school earlier.

Sophie was briskly walking through a pile of leaves, where she saw her friend, Lisa reading some kind of scary book on her porch. She had saw Lisa drinking a cup of hot chocolate with mini marshmallows. Sophie can tell Lisa didn’t make it too long ago, since she was able to see the steam rising from the red mug.

Upon Sophie’s arrival, Lisa put her book away, as Sophie sat down on the bench beside her. Lisa knew something was wrong because she noticed that Sophie’s face was red and her eyes were puffy and glossy.

“What’s wrong?” Lisa asked.
“It’s my Grandma…” Sophie began, but couldn’t hold back her tears long enough to tell Lisa.

Lisa began hugging Sophie, but that just made Sophie sob even more.

“Shhh… It’s okay. We’ll get through this together.” Lisa promised, hugging her tighter.

The last time Sophie had called her, she had told Lisa that her Grandma had suffered a stroke, and she wasn’t doing well. Lisa was really sad for Sophie, but at the same time she didn’t know how to comfort her friend since she had never lost someone close to her before.

“Here, you need this more than I do.” Lisa confessed as she handed Sophie her mug of hot chocolate.

“Thanks.” Sophie said, grabbing the mug and began taking sips from it, as she was wiping away her tears.

“Listen, let’s have the best weekend ever! And then after that we will seriously have to study for our history test this Friday.” Lisa declared.

“Yeah, sounds like fun. But I think on Sunday I have to be with my family, to help make funeral arrangements for my Grandma.” Sophie announced.

“Understandable, let’s have a lot of fun. I can even cancel my date with Ben tomorrow. I can see if he wants to reschedule until Sunday. For now, I’m all yours. Let’s turn the frown upside down!” Lisa said hopefully.

“You didn’t have to do that, but I appreciate you doing that for me.” Sophie said, realizing that she has the best friend in the whole world.

Lisa and Sophie have been friends since they were toddlers. They first met each other in preschool.

They had spent the weekend doing many fun things like staying up all night, making sundaes, painting their nails and reading the latest gossip from Hollywood.

After all that fun, Sophie had to leave and get ready to spend time with her family. They needed to discuss the funeral arrangements, and get the photos ready for the funeral room.

Sophie had thanked Lisa for giving her an amazing weekend. Lisa was happy that she got to help Sophie. Sophie is an only child, and all of her cousins live in another city, and weren’t planning on coming in until Sunday morning. Sophie was more than grateful to have Lisa help her through this difficult time.

Sophie was surrounded by her family as they had made arrangements for her late Grandmother. Lisa got to hang out with Ben since she had rescheduled their date.

***

The next few days were filled with sorrow for Sophie attending her Grandma’s funeral. Lisa and Ben made study cards and started studying for their history test.

Eventually Sophie’s family went to her Grandma’s house. They didn’t realize that her house was jam packed with various items. Every room except her kitchen and dining room was filled with stuff floor to ceiling. They finally realized that’s why their Grandma didn’t allow visitors anymore.

Sophie’s father, David, the son of her Grandma began cleaning up her house. Sophie looked around and she knew that she wanted her Grandma’s recipe books, her Grandma made the best cherry cheesecake. She had talked to her cousins and wondered if they could make a three way split between their Grandma’s doll collection.

Her family agreed to take some things from the house. Sophie loved drinking tea, and her Grandma had various collections of matching tea cups and tea pots, as well as the milk jug, and sugar holder. She had a collection set in roses, teddy bears and plain porcelain. Sophie had her eye on all three sets.

Some of the things that her Grandma had kept were a lot of paper from her son and daughter’s school years. She had kept a lot of photos and cards from various holidays and birthdays. Her fridge was completely covered with magnets from all of the places she had travelled to. She had a lot of clothes. Despite having a walk-in closet, two dressers it just wasn’t enough. She had kept her clothes in the spare room, too. Her jewelry spilled all across the top of her dressers, and her countless jewelry boxes.

Her family had spent two weeks shredding papers, donating the clothes, the jewelry after they had all agreed to keep a few things each.

Sophie had hung out a lot with Lisa and Ben. She had showcased all of her cool new things that she got from her Grandma’s house. Lisa admired the porcelain tea set collection a lot.

After all of that, they moved on to the next phase which was to donate the furniture, clean the carpets and floors which hadn’t been seen for several years. The last time David remembered seeing the floors was when he had helped his mom deal with his Dad’s belongings after he passed away seven years ago.

Next David, and his sister, Claire found a realtor, because they wanted to list her house on the market, and hopefully sell it by Christmas.

After a few weeks had passed, Sophie realized that her parents were going through all of their belongings, and updating their wills. It was now the middle of October and all of the leaves had fallen to the ground.

“Hey, what are you up to?” Sophie asked.
“Well, having to clean up after both of my parents. It’s a lot of work. My Dad didn’t have a lot of stuff, but my mother had a bunch of things. I don’t want you to be left with this burden after we pass away.” David confessed, as he was filling up another bag of his belongings. His wife, Samantha was doing the same thing.

There was a small pause. Sophie was processing what her Dad had just said.

“What are you going to do with all of these things?” Sophie wondered.
“We’re going to donate these. There are various donation sites around the city that accept donations.” Samantha answered.
“I think that maybe Grandma was lonely, so instead of filling her home with memories she filled it with things. Like maybe that was her way of remembering us. Hear me out, she had kept yours and Aunt Claire’s school work throughout the years. It’s like her way of holding onto you.” Sophie explained.
“Yes, that can be a fair assessment of what happened.” David agreed.

This made Sophie really think about things. She went to her room and began examining her things, as well. She started with her closet. She began asking herself if she had worn any of these clothes in the past year. If she hadn’t she threw them on the floor until she had realized that she had a mountain of clothes on her floor. She decided it would be a good idea to grab a reusable bag and start packing all of these things. Next she had moved on to her books.

A few days later she was hanging out with Lisa and Ben at Ben’s house. Sophie had brought the roses tea set with her this time. They eventually made some Earl Grey tea. They started making pumpkin cookies as they were trying to decide on a scary movie to watch.

“I haven’t seen you this happy in a long time.” Lisa noticed.
“Yeah, what’s your secret?” Ben asked.
“Well, you would think that with everything that has happened to me, you would like that I wouldn’t be happy. But I found a way.” Sophie explained as she was sipping her tea.

“These past weeks have taught me a lot of lessons. I realized that it is good to let things go that I don’t use anymore. My Grandma must have had 250,000 items in her house. Most of them were memories of my cousins, aunt, my parents and myself. We don’t need to hold on to things to remind things by, our memories are kept in our minds and hearts. I was inspired to get rid of some of my belongings. I feel like it’s allowed me to feel more joy since I’m no longer bombarded with all of this clutter around me. I have even spoken to the principal if we can have a donation week. It’s where we can donate our stuff, and it gets donated to places where people can help themselves if they are in need.” Sophie explained.

Lisa and Ben were in awe with her enthusiasm to help other people.

“How about we forget this movie and we can take our tea and cookies and we can get started with Ben’s stuff first?” Sophie asked.

“That sounds like a great idea.” Lisa confessed.

The three of them carefully carried their tea cups up the stairs and walked into Ben’s room to start their decluttering mission.

Why We Should Make Resolutions in October

I’m not sure how many of you make New Year’s Resolutions, but if you do, here’s an interesting approach.

I think the perfect time to make New Year’s Resolutions is October, think about, you are starting a second month of changes. Perhaps you are a parent and you have children that attend school. You might not have had a perfect month of smooth sailing, because perhaps the children weren’t ready to go back to school from their summer vacation. But now that they have a month of getting into the swing of things, they are able to make improvements.

Another reason why October is the perfect month to start resolutions, is that sometimes January is too daunting, or too much pressure to start anything new. Most people believe that starting to make changes in January, becomes too pressurized. It’s almost like the time where you buy yourself this cool journal, and you are too nervous to use it because you are scared to make a mistake in it.

Another reason why October is the perfect time to make resolutions is that more likely, whichever country you are in, you are in the transition of welcoming another season. I’m not sure, but a lot of people do seasonally chores, so your house is already freshened up, so will you. The end of the previous season is the beginning of a new season.

These are my reasons as to why I think October is the ideal time to make resolutions instead of waiting until January.

I would love to hear from you! If you make any resolutions, what do you normally like to change? And did I convince you to make New Year’s Resolutions in October?

Day 92 of 192

While I was decluttering, I came across a bunch of stuff I thought I needed, but I actually didn’t. I am so glad that I am finally going through my things, once and for all.

I had this container that my sister held on to in her house because I had to pack up my room and sort through my belongings at a later date. My mama used my room for her friend since her friend was going through a break up. So I had to gather up my stuff. And I am finally going through these containers. Luckily for me the first one I went through was filled with miscellaneous objects such as old hair brushes, markers, pens, hair clips, etc. I don’t have an attachment to any of these objects, which made this container so much easier to declutter.

Another one of my rules is throw away objects that I can replace (if I really have to, but most of the time, I don’t need to replace them) within 20 km, for under $20. For instance these highlighters. These are probably 10 years old, and I kept them for just in case. But they no longer worked, so I unfortunately couldn’t donate.

Day 61 of 192

This item is from Saturday, as I have fallen behind in my blog posts.

I had decided to give my cousin my old college lanyard that I got at one of the open houses. I ended up getting a new one on my first day, two years ago. I like this one better because it actually has my speciality on it, instead of the name of the college, I attend.

Although, I am not in school at the moment, I have completed a year of accounting. I do plan on going back and finish in about two, maybe three years or so. I just would like to move out in to a new apartment with my boyfriend, and I can’t do that until we pay down our debts first. Right now, we are living with one of his friend’s and his family. I find living with other people while studying to be distracting. That’s just me, though.

For those who might be worried, I will definitely go back to school.

I hope this lanyard provides my cousin with confidence and help her believe in herself.

Digital Declutter: I uninstalled seven apps I no longer use. That makes me so happy.

Day 21 of 192

This post is for Sunday’s item. I have been going through arts and crafts supplies, where I found that I had a duplicate of a pencil sharpener, so I placed it with my other office supplies that I no longer, that way I can donate it together. I know in the past years, many office supplies have Back-to-school charity drive. It’s where you can donate your pens, pencils and other supplies to the less unfortunate.

If there isn’t one happening this year because of the coronavirus, then I would just give it someone I know.

Day Eighteen

Hi friends! Wow, I can’t believe we are almost at the end of our 21 Day Gratitude Challenge. I hope you are starting to notice the difference already. And if you haven’t, that’s okay, sometimes things take a little while for great things to harvest.

Today, we are going to express our gratitude for our hardships and how we’ve overcame a challenge in our lives. Our challenges is what strengthens us. These experiences makes us realize what we truly want in life. We realized that we owe ourselves the best life possible. Maybe we come to the realization that we deserve a better job, where our work gets appreciated; a new job bring us new and great opportunities. Look for something better. Trust me. Staying at a job for too long, especially if you are unhappy, is almost like a waste of life. Your days are far more valuable to be anything but happy.

Or perhaps you come to the realization that you’re at the end of a loveless relationship or you realize that this isn’t going in a direction you had thought it was going in. And it’s okay to end a relationship or even take a break from each other. Just make sure you and your partner are respectful of each other.

For me, I feel like I need a new job because the one that I currently have just isn’t making me happy right now. So I just want something new and something that is fulfilling.

Do not let your hardships define who you are, but use them as stepping stones to get where you need to be. These kinds of changes don’t happen overnight. Be patient and gentle on yourself.

Whenever you overcome something you thought you couldn’t, you learn to appreciate your hard work and how you got there. Life and success aren’t mapped out in straight lines, so just because it took a little while longer than you thought it would, don’t be so hard on yourself.

For example, perhaps you are 33, and want to go back to school and pursue a different career like nursing. You might think that you’re “too old” because it is a four year major. Well guess what? In four years you’ll still be 37, you may as be a nurse too. So you go and get that major!

And also another thing is, you shouldn’t compare yourself to other people. Everything will come to you when it is needed to come to you, when you need it. Not a minute late or earlier. This is where you are supposed to be. Don’t compare your chapter, to someone else’s book. Keep doing you. And never do anything you don’t want to do. Never let others persuade or pressure you into doing something you don’t want to do.

Don’t let anything or anyone bring you down. You go out and preserve. You can triumph your obstacles. I believe in you. Chase your dreams, and don’t let your hardships stop you from being you are destined to be.

“I made it through the darkest part of the night

And now I see the sunrise

Now, I feel glorious.”

-Macklemore ft. Skylar Grey, Glorious

Chase Your Dreams

I learnt that it’s important to chase after your dreams no matter what. Remember obstacles are put in your way to see if what you want is really worth fighting for.

I’m planning on going to school next year so it’s important for me to start saving now. I think it’s a good start. Earlier this year I wasn’t too concerned with saving but now I am. I’ve been trying my best from refraining to buy anything.

But after tomorrow I will only buy the bare minimal – food, bus tickets and other things like that.

Today, do not allow something to stop you from achieving goals. It a daily practice that you must do in order to move forward.
