Hey bookworms! Let’s talk about books!

I have a lot of books I would love to read. I am trying to spend more reading to try to work through my To Be Read List. I would love to know what is on your To Be Read List.

The book I chose to talk about this week is A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett, who also wrote The Secret Garden. I bought the book, a few years back, because my sister and I were obsessed with the movie. I have never read the story before. I was thinking about reading this weekend.

It’s about this little girl, Sara Crew who goes to boarding school. Her Dad (who is a widower) is also the Captain of the British Navy. She comes from a wealthy family. She has superior clothes, and he is able to get her, her own room while she is in boarding school. She receives lavish presents from her father. Her father’s riches pays for her tuition. Suddenly on her birthday, the Head Mistress pulls Sara aside to tell her that her father has died. In order for her to stay at boarding school, she must become a servant to her fellow classmates. Because her father paid for her room, she was no longer allowed to stay her elegant room, instead she had to stay in the attic, with the other servant.

I don’t want to spoil too much of the story, or the movie. It is the most beloved story in all of children’s literature. It’s a wonderful story. If you ever get the chance to read it, or watch the movie, you totally should. I cannot wait for my niece to read it when she’s older.

Let’s talk about books! This is a post where I discuss all the books that I have been reading, by answering the following questions…

  1. What have I finished reading?
  2. What am I currently reading?
  3. What will I read next?

I would love to know what everyone has read, or is reading! Feel free to post yours in the comments below.

It was a morning in June, when a woman took her dog for a walk, and she thought her dog came up to her with a stick, but it turns out to something much worst. The story is about how four close friends from boarding school, who thought were inseparable, play a game — The Lying Game. The rules are simple, lie, and never tell the truth to fellow students, and teachers. Although never lie to each other. Unfortunately the girls get expelled in their final year of boarding school. Which is how the girls start separating and going on their own journeys. Until one morning, Kate messages them with a three word text, “I need you”. This text message brings all four girls together. What the girls are about to find out is that their Lying Game has consequences.

I love reading Ruth Ware books, I think she is an amazing author. She writes thrillers. The first book I read of hers was The Turn of the Key, which is also amazing. What I like about her is she begins her books slowly, and providing a lot of details in the beginning of the book. She then picks up the pace, with thrilling details, so things start to get scary pretty fast. I really enjoyed this book a lot. I would recommend this if you like reading thrillers.

So I switched this The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, because I found out other people are waiting for this book, so I have to return it to the library faster than The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. I have read great reviews about this book. I am really fascinated and intrigued to read this book. All I know that it is really popular now, because people are able to relate to it to today’s world about being in insolation because of the pandemic lockdowns.

3. What will I be reading next?

I am intrigued to read these stories, and watch the movies. I feel like I am missing out on so much. I can’t wait to find out what happens in this series.

Goodreads Mondays #20 – March 1st, 2021

This is the post where we discuss what is on our To Be Read List, and why we want to read these books. I have over 1,400 books on my To Be Read List. I have so much reading to do. What are some of the books on your To Be Read List?

This week I am going to talk about The Queen’s Gambit. It has become super popular, thanks to the Netflix series. The book was first published back in 1983. I haven’t seen the Netflix series yet, since I’ve been waiting to get it from my library. I have heard great things about the show, and the book. I am really excited to watch it and read it.

It is about an eight year old orphan. She is seen as a coy little girl, that is until she plays her first her game of chess. She begins to think more clearly, and finally feeling like she is in control of her life. At the age of 16, she begins to participate in competitions.

I am so excited to read this one! I have had this book on my To Be Read for about 10 years now. I have been meaning to read this book. I’m going to order the next books in the series when I finish this one. Then I am also going to watch the movies as I finish the books. I love watching the series, or movies after I finish reading the book.

Hey bookworms! Let’s talk about books!

I have a lot of books I would love to read. I am trying to spend more reading to try to work through my To Be Read List.

I have bought this book, Help Me: My Perfectly Disastrous Journey Through the World of Self-Help for my boyfriend as one of his birthday presents two years ago. I feel bad because in those two years, neither one of us have read it, yet. I am planning on reading this book once I finish reading my library books.

This book sounds similar to The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin. It’s similar because Marianne Power plans on reading 12 self-help books in one year. And each month, she plans on following exactly what the book preaches, and then she would see if that book had benefited in some way. She investigates whether or not reading self help books can make your life any better.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have much time to myself this week, so I wasn’t able to finish a lot of books as I was hoping for. I managed to finish one book, which was a really good book.

  1. What have I finished reading?

This book was suspenseful. It is my first book that I have read by Chris Bohjalian. I can’t wait to read his other stories. This novel tells the tale about how a flight attendant, Cassie finds her in some trouble. She just traveled to Dubai as one of her travels for work. She wakes up in the wrong hotel room, where she finds out she is laying next to some guy. She then looks at him, and realizes that he is dead. She is far way from home, and doesn’t know what she do.

I can’t wait to start watching the TV show soon.

I first picked up this book up when I wanted to watch this series. I have this thing, that I like reading the books before I watch the shows, or movies.

I love reading Ruth Ware, she writes suspenseful, and thriller novels. I haven’t read one of her books in awhile. I have been waiting for this book a little while now from the library.

This is the post where we discuss what is on our To Be Read List, and why we want to read these books. I have over 1,300 books on my To Be Read List. I have so much reading to do.

This week I would love to talk about P.S. I Love You. It’s about this young couple, who are in their 30s, plan on living with the rest of their lives together. Until her love of her life, Gerry is diagnosed with a terminal illness. Knowing that he is about to die, he decides to write Holly letters so she has something to remember him by. Shortly after he passes away, Holly is upset, and refuses to move on without Gerry. She must find a way to accept his loss, and sort of live out her life.

I watched the movie awhile ago with my mom, and I loved it a lot. I am really looking forward to reading this book.

Hi everyone, I’m just trying to play catch up over here! I hope everyone is doing well!

  1. What have I finished reading?
  2. What am I currently reading?
  3. What will I read next?

I had an amazing week last week. I was able to read three books!

  1. What have I finished reading?

I read this book in middle school. It was a really book. I loved it. This book tells a tale about friendship, and courage. A new girl becomes best friends with her neighbour. She shows him the woods by their houses, a place where only they know. They decide to call it Terabithia. It was a place that made them forget about the bullies at school. It’s such a heartfelt story. After I finished reading the book, I watched the movie with my boyfriend. What I loved about the movie, is that they kept it the same from the book, I love that about movie adaptations. It is targeted for middle school kids, but you can still enjoy it if you’re an adult, too.

And

I felt nostalgic, so I wanted to read other books from my middle school days. My Mom, and my Dad bought me this book set collection for my 13th birthday. I loved reading these books, although, I haven’t actually read all of the books before. My mom and I started to read these books together, since she read them when she was younger, too. Although I guess we just got busy with life, and didn’t get to finish these books. There are nine books in the series, and I believe my mom and I got to the third book.

These stories are based on real life adventures of Laura Ingalls Wilder and her family during the pioneer days. Her father worked really hard to hunt enough food for his family. Laura is the middle child, and she loves playing with her sisters, and helping her mom out with the chores. She also loves hearing her Dad sing, and play on his fiddle before bed.

My rating: 5 stars out of 5

And

This is the second book of the series. I thought I may as well read this book, too. I can these quite fast. I love the illustrations throughout the book. Garth Williams have done illustrations for Stuart Little, and Charlotte’s Web. In the second book, it is about their move from Wisconsin to Kansas City, and all of the adventures about building a log house, going into town. I really enjoy this book, a lot. I would recommend these books to anyone.

My rating: 4 stars out 5

2. What am I currently reading?

I picked this book again, after I read some of my books from my middle school days. This book is suspenseful. Flight attendant, Cassie wakes up in a hotel room, with a hangover, from drinking the night before. What she notices is this isn’t her hotel room. And she soon realizes that she wakes up to a guy she was hanging out with the night before. She takes a closer look at him, and discovers that he isn’t breathing. She can’t remember much, or anything at all for that matter. She is far away from home, and not sure what to do next.

3. What will I read next?

I am so excited for this book. I have amazing things about this book, and TV show. I haven’t watched the show yet, but I would love to read the books first, so I can watch the show.

What are some of the books you have read, or will like to read? Let me know in the comments!

Hey bookworms! This is where we post and talk about the books on our To Be Read List, and the ones we would like to read next. I would love to hear what books are on your list.

I have a lot of books on my list. This week I wanted to talk about, Lock Every Door by Riley Sager. It is a psychological thriller.

It tells the story of Julie, who just lost her boyfriend, and her job in one day. She then finds this amazing job as an apartment sitter in the most pristine building in New York City. Home of the rich and famous people. The rules of her new job is that she isn’t allowed to have any visitors over, or spend any nights out of her apartment. And it is also frown upon to talk to the other tenants in the building. But then she begins to take interest in one of the tenants…

  1. What have I finished reading?

I loved this book, it’s almost like Breakfast Club meats Gossip Girl. It’s about how the Brain, the Princess, the Criminal, the Athlete and the Outcast all end up in detention together. Five of them walk in, but only five of them walk out. The student’s death is ruled to be suspicious. The student died before he was about to expose secrets of the other four students, who now are accused of being a suspect. So what exactly happened in that detention room? And just how far will you go to protect your secret?

My rating: 4 stars out of 5

This is Karen M. McManus’ debut novel. I am really starting to like reading her novels.

I have been spending a lot of time reading last week and this week. I feel proud of myself. My goal is to read 100 books by the end of the year.

And

Wow! This book was amazing! I can see why it won the Goodreads Choice 2015 Winner. Rachel takes the same train ride every day, she knows the route like the back of her hand. She sees this couple, so much, she feels like she knows them. She refers to them as Jess and Jason. She can see how happy they are, and wonders why she can’t be that happy. Until one day, she discovers that everything is about to change, and nothing was ever the same again.

My Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5

I can’t wait to watch the movie this weekend. I have had this book sit on my bookshelf for almost six years, before I was finally able to make time to read.

2. What am I currently reading?

I am so excited to read this book. It’s about a flight attendant who has a drinking problem, and wakes up next to a guy who is dead in a wrong hotel room. She has no memory of last night, since she has a drinking problem, and would often have blackouts. I am going to be starting to read this later tonight.
