Minimalist Game Day 19

The rules are simple, you get rid of things from your life, either by selling them, throwing them away, or donating them. On the first day, you remove one item, and then on the second day, you remove two items, you keep on playing until it’s the end of the month, or whenever you run out of things to remove from your life. It is okay if you can’t make it until the end of the month. Personally, I would rather see items get donated, or sold to someone else. If you must throw something away, I hope it’s because it isn’t fixable. Even if you have removed three items from your life, you should still be proud of that, because it is three more things you removed before the challenge. But if you are able to complete this challenge, you would have gotten rid of almost 500 items! That’s a lot of stuff.

This is from March the 19th.

This was given to me as part of a Christmas present last year. It’s a gift card holder, but I don’t really have any purpose for this.
These are old tea samples that I have bought a little while ago. All of these teas were delicious.
These pajamas pants were given to me by my Grandma, but I just had too many pajamas at the time to really appreciate these. I am going to send this back to my Grandma, and see if she can find someone to appreciate these more than I did.

If you are participating, I would love to know what you are parting with, feel free to let me know in the comments. This is such a fun way to welcome Spring cleaning.

This is from Wednesday March 17th.

Expired lip care (lip balms and lip sticks).
A photo album, and a notebook. I plan on giving them to my cousin.
A Christmas present from my Dad. He bought me a box of cookies.

I had parted ways with a lot of clothes that I haven’t worn in a really long time. It is best for me to pass them on to someone who will enjoy these items than I ever did. I like to give them to my Grandma, because she knows a lot of people and neighbours that always need clothes. I feel fortunate enough to be able to help others.

Minimalist Game Day Seven

This is from Sunday.

The rules are simple, you get rid of things from your life, either by selling them, throwing them away, or donating them. Here are my items…

These are the other seven tins of tea I no longer need or use. So I’m just going to give them to my Grandma, and she can decide what to do with it next.

Day 192 of 192

Wow! This is it! I am so proud of myself for finishing this project. I am about to ring in the new year with 192 less items than I would have. And I was able to help other people in the process. It’s a liberating feeling knowing that I did this.

Not everyone knows this, but I have had my things spread out in three other houses, four if you include the actual place I live at currently. Now, I only have things in three houses. My goal for the year was to bring it down to one, but I had to refrain from these houses because of the pandemic. But hopefully by the end of next year, I’ll only have my things in my house, the one I live at.

I still feel like there’s a few more things to give away. I hope I also inspired other people to go through their belongings, too.

This decluttering journey inspired me to write a short story, which is something I was planning to work on in the new year. That’s really exciting.

But here it is! Item number 192. It isn’t a big reveal, but it is still something.

I found this item in a container of my belongings. I have kept this way longer than I needed to. I plan on giving these to my Grandma, because I am sure she knows someone who would appreciate this.

Day 183 of 192

The last nine days of the year! I cannot believe that we’re almost at the end of 2020. I really hope things improve next year.

This is today’s item. I have had this shirt for a little while now, and if you look closely you can see that it still has the tag on it. It’s time for me to part with this shirt. It looks like a really great shirt, but alas, it just isn’t for me. I’m sure my Grandma will know someone who would like it.

Day 170 of 192

I am still going through my container of things that I had in my old room from my mom’s house. It feels amazing to finally tackle this project (finally)! My goal is go through this container, and the last container I have at my sister’s house before the year is over.

I came across this book, that my Grandma gave me several years ago. i haven’t written it, so I am going to re-gift this, and give it to my sister’s step son for Christmas.

I’m not sure where everyone stands on re-gifting. But I personally think it’s okay, just as long as you don’t accidentally give it back to the person who gave it to you. It’s sort of like repurposing something.

Day 164 of 192

Hi everyone! I hope everyone is having a good day.

The item I am giving away is an orchid plant holder. A few years ago, my boyfriend had bought me an orchid, unfortunately the plant died a few months after he gave it to me. It was a really pretty shade of light pink, with dark pink.

My Grandma likes to plant, and garden, so I’m going to see if she could repurpose this jar.

Day 162 of 192

I found a pair of these socks in my container of things. I’m pretty sure I gave them to my sister, because she was famous of misplacing her socks. But her and I are okay on socks, so I’m going to give them to my Grandma. And let her decide if anyone needs them.

Day 161 of 192

Today marks my 23rd week of this journey. I am so proud of myself for going through my stuff (finally). It’s been long overdue, but I want to have less going into 2021, and I want to be able to help others, too.

I hope that I have encouraged a few people to let go of some of their items they no longer want to use. It is such an important time that we give back to our community.

I haven’t used this pillow in a few years, that I actually thought I forgot about. I already have a pillow that my boyfriend had bought us. I’m probably just going to give this to my Grandma. I’m sure she can find a purpose for it.

Unfortunately, and I am embarrassed to showcase it, but it is quite old and dirty, so I’m just going to refrain from sharing a photo of it.

Day 145 of 192

This is Saturday’s item.

I used to be a huge Barbie fanatic. I would always ask for more dolls, more accessories, for my birthday, and Christmases. I also liked art and crafts, as well. But alas I no longer need these Barbie beads anymore. I’m going to give this to Grandma, and she is going to give these to her neighbour’s granddaughter. I’m glad that I have an opportunity to add joy in other people’s lives.
